Puzzle Quest by Infinite Interactive is, believe it or not, a cross between an old school console RPG and a puzzle game. Your character must accomplish a series of quests and he or she defeats enemies by playing a round of what looks like Bejeweled. The idea might sound silly at first (as shown in the latest Penny Arcade comic), but the game is very addictive and gets very positive word-of-mouth on the Net these days. You feel like giving it a try? The good news is that a demo for the PC is out and it should keep you busy for a couple of hours. The bad news is that the game is only available for the PSP and the DS at the moment, and a PC version has yet to be announced. Steve Fawkner (who was consultant on Heroes V) provided an explanation in the Infinite Interactive forum:

"I kinda have to play the "We can't talk about that" card. A PC version hasn't been officially announced yet, but as you have seen, there is a demo, so in the "fullness of time", as they say, it is likely there WILL be an announcement. As for exactly when it will happen, we are not even certain of that ourselves yet. Sorry for making you folks wait... we'd love nothing better than to see EVERYBODY playing Puzzle Quest on all sorts of platforms, but there are all kinds of contracts & red tape that need to get sorted through to make that happen. We're working on it though, and as soon as it does happen, you'll hear about it right here!"

It's one of those rare RPGs where you feel like having made some progress after a quick 30 minute session, something that's not possible in the Elder Scrolls games for instance. As a gamer on a schedule, I would really like the PC version to become a reality.
