HoMM: Olden Era
2024-08-22 - Newly announced iteration in Heroes series, located on Jadame, meant as prequel before times of Heroes I-VII, in the same timeline like M&M VII: Day of the Destroyer
Developer is Unfrozen Studio, publisher Ubisoft.
What's known about it so far?
- Steam Early Access will be available from Q2 2025, now it's running beta testing
- Hexes are back.
- Three skills choices when levelling up.
- Focus on eSports.
- Focus on customisation for eyes. Fog of War styles, contures, contrast, etc.. - to be seen.
- Simultaneous turns has been promised.
- RMG emphasis, RMG Template Editor promised to be handed to community, although Template Editor might consists only from config files in the beginning.
- Non-linear campaigns.
- Two updates for units in town, this or that type. (Closer to H4 style but not so definitive)
- Six factions will be available in Early Access: Temple (Classic Knights), Necropolis (Undead and Vampires), Sylvan (Nature and Fey Folk), Dungeon (Dark Elves and Underground Creatures), Hive (Demonic Insectoids), and a sixth mysterious faction that will be revealed as you progress. We plan to introduce additional factions in future updates and DLCs.
- Single player modes will be: "Campaign, Randomly Generated Maps, and Skirmish (Custom Maps)"
- Multi Player modes will be: "Classic Mode: Manage multiple heroes, upgrade your castle, and explore the map.
One-Hero Mode: A challenging mode where you control a single hero, and their survival is crucial.
Arena: Focuses on immediate combat where you draft a hero, upgrade them, and engage in battle." - Intuitive Map Editor is planned to be available early, in the Early Access.
- Observer mode will be in for MP. Likely also possibility to save and replay (not yet confirmed).
