It may very well be "clever" marketing (assuming everything was done intentionally), and it may very well work out in a good way for them, because it has been made so public, but that depends on what ultimately happens. Wouldnt surprise me if it was true, money, greed and persuasion are powerful allies in the marketing process. People get convinced pretty easly that this is the best thing to do, when people wawing with money in front of their faces as a lure.

Yes this is how it very well could turn out. And I hope it does. If Ubisoft is smart they will take the opportunity that the fan sites have given them to gracefully delay the game and come out looking like the good guys. They will make it look like the fan protest had influenced them, so that everybody will be absolutely happy. Then fans will be overjoyed that their voices were heard, and praise the absolutely uber-cool Ubisoft, for being so nice and fullfiling the wishes of the devoted players. The whole 'drama' will have a positive outcome, esp. for Ubisoft who now has the best cards in hand ( good publicity too).

And what do you call an action that gives you the chance to reap rewards if it works and suffer nothing if it fails?
