The VCMI guys have just announced the release of their latest build: 0.54.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the project, the short story is that VCMI attempts to rewrite the H3 engine in a new fashion, picking up the baton where WoG left off. The aim is to successfully merge both Heroes 3 and WoG within a new program written from the ground up, a new, free and efficient code "promising to put every imaginary change at your fingertips".

Now, as the more perceptive of you might have noticed, build 0.54 implies something not yet quite finished. Indeed, the authors are asking volunteers to come forward and test their new "baby", and to comment and discuss the latest developments, thus helping them polish the program into a finished product.
