The game I played during the week-end didn't have high-resolution graphics, cinematic music or complex gameplay. It's called Bubble Bobble, originally came out in 1986 and is part of the line-up of games at GameTap, which recently offered a free access to a part of its collection for North American gamers. Bubble has been a personal favorite because of its coop gameplay and fast action, but GameTap includes several strategy titles that you may find more interesting: Jagged Alliance 2 Gold, Disciples Sacred Lands Gold Edition and Commandos 3: Destination Berlin. All those games are complete, so you are not limited to a subset of missions, but you should expect a very large download for some games (742 MB for Disciples, over 1 Gig for JA2). Check out the full catalog here.

If you have a GameTap subscription, you can play the first four Heroes games and the first five Might and Magic games, in addition to the hundreds of other titles, both old and new. Hopefully they will be part of the next batch of free games, which will be made available on Wednesday, June 13. I will let you know if that's the case.
