A discussion started by hippieman (a developer) in the Freeverse forums (thanks again Mitra) is a community Q&A with some interesting information about the upcoming Mac port of Heroes of Might and Magic V.

  • Intel vs. PowerPC: "Our latest beta works on all Intel based Macs. Yes, all of them. We re-worked some of the game code specifically for the Mini and MacBooks. Now your not going to run at 4X anti alaising on a MacBook, but the game does play nice, at 60 frames a sec (give or take)."
  • Multiplay: "PC to Mac networking is the last item on our check list. Hopefully by MacWorld SF we will have this. On paper it works, but it has not been tested yet. Mac to Mac networking of course works fine."
  • Mac Hammers of Fate: "It will be up to Ubisoft to determine if they want to extend our contract to the expansion. Our top priority is finishing the base game."
  • Progress: "(...) the game should be done in a matter of weeks. The boxes are done, the manual is done, we are just getting the last strings and such in."
  • Map editor and demo: "The map editor will not be included. If it is ported (and I can't stress the "if" enough in this sentence) it will be a download on our website. (...) Ubisoft has pulled the PC demo, and we are not getting a Mac demo."

There are also some details about the distribution process and digital downloads. Have a look right away if you plan to order the game.
