I have guess that changing them had something to do with all the threads appearing with Warhammer units. Most were quite different, but the Treants where extremely close.

How will we really know what the first patch will need until we buy the game, install it and play it.. It may be an improvement over the demo and this whole discussion might prove to be premature at this time.. except maybe for the map/campaign editor and that isn't a patch, but an upgrade which means probably extra $$ but that is a different subject.
But.......
1. I am hoping whatever causes the demo game to stall out when you click the quit button which talkes it several real time minutes to go back to the desktop don't happen in the the released version, I hope that is fixed and if not, than that should be in the first patch. There shouldn't be any delay for the game to shut back down to windows as this delay is really annoying and flustrating..
2. In the options on the demo, I noticed we don't have the option to change screen size like we did in previous versions.. we had the option to play in 'full' screen mode or a smaller desktop screen mode which I like so I for sure would like to see this option back and hope they implement this in the 1st patch.
3. AI fixed
4. Unstable camera fixed
5. More than one hero can enter his castle at the same time.
Thats a few things I can think of right now that I'd like to see in a patch.
And I for sure want the map/campaign editor but that won't be in a patch.

You're right that we do not actually know the final version, but can still state the flaws/bugs that we see in the demo, and request a fix. Allow me to comment on your points:
1. What are your specs?
2. I doubt this can be implemented, since the 3D engine may be requiring a full screen focus.
3. Agreed
4. You mean the case when moving around the camera zooms in and out? You're right, it's annoying. I guess it was not like this in the Beta. That's why I think they won't change it. It may be included to avoid high objects like trees, mountains, castles. Then again, it's annoying and apparently it's heavy on the PC.
5. You can have two heroes in the castle. Just drag one of them to the garrison (click on the hero figure and drag it to the square above it) when s/he is visiting. Then let the other hero in. ;)

Answer:
Microsoft Windows XP (service pack2)
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.84 GHz
512MB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT2 256MB video card
DirectX 9
160GB HD
did I leave anything out? :D

2. I doubt this can be implemented, since the 3D engine may be requiring a full screen focus.
Answer/comment:
Not what I want to hear! I am not too fond of the small screen and like the screen option..

I am not too fond of it but I guess if I am forced with it, I'll have to get use to it..

Answer/comment:
I have tried to get 2 heroes in at the same time and it wouldn't let me, one would still be at the gate and not completly in the castle. I wanted both save inside the castle so when I get attack, they both would be inside but maybe I need to retry.. I haven't finished the demo yet because I keep getting wiped out, the enemy has completely outnumbered me.. :D but I will someday..

5. Aha, got it now :) You cannot put both heroes into the garrison, sorry. The key is you have to hide the weak hero (probably Godric) somewhere else when the AI hero attacks. Just let him go to the gold mine to the NW. They won't attack him, don't worry. So take all his army to the strong hero in such situations, and make sure your strong hero is garrisoned. I hope this helps ;)

Btw, 512 RAM may not be sufficient to allow smooth exits. I guess it's a minimum requirement and should be enough to play the game, but then again it may be sluggish at starts/exits. Other specs are as good as possible. ;)

Yes, I had a feeling that might be my problem, I just didnt really want to invest more money in memory chips but I may have to.

You know placing two heroes in the garrison was not ever possible. That would be a new thing if it was in. But there may be some unexpected consequences. I couldn't think of one now, but probably there is a good reason why all of the previous game and this one left it out ;)

Yeah, I mean HIV was very different, I was thinking about HI-III. In HIV you could have 7 heroes in a single army, put them wherever you want to ;)

First, hi to everyone, long time lurker finally registered :)

New patch should definetely include MORE artifacts.
Cause now there is so little i often find myself having duplicates.
Also more spells, 44 is definetely not enough.

My 2 cents for the patch

Unread postby poke53281 » 16 May 2006, 03:34

For the record, I think HOMM5 is really quite good. On par with I & II, better than IV and not as good as III.

Things to look at for the patch:
- Combat AI. eg. In an obvious loose situtation, CPU neutral-creature spell casters cast non-damage spells rather than attacking directly and killing some of the stack. (I remember master genies doing this in HOMM3 before patching but could be wrong.)

- Wait button in combat. I didn't know you could until I read it in a forum.

- errr, no lips moving in cut-scenes!? What happened??? Looks a bit dumb.

- Map & campaign editor

- Bug fixes and polishing will go a long way

I've noticed one thing about the combat AI: if an AI melee unit is about to attack a ranged unit and there's a probability that the ranged unit's retaliation will kill the entire stack, they simply bind the ranged unit instead of attacking. I haven't seen anything like this in H1-4.
