Rampart Creature Strategy - Sven Meling

Centaur / Centaur Captain

I consider these to be the best level 1 creatures. Their speed and combat skills are both good. Use the wait command when facing fast units, and then strike when they get within the centaurīs movement area. Donīt let them get ganged up on in the center of the battlefield because they have low defense skill. Make sure they get the first hit.

Dwarf / Dwarven Warrior

The dvarwen warrior is an exellent unit if you have the haste spell. They have the best combat rating of all level 2 units, and you can produce a lot of them. If you donīt have the haste spell, use them to defend your shooters instead.

The ranger Ufretin makes an exellent starting hero because he has dwarves as his unique ability. In my opinion dwarves are one of the best level 2 units in the game. Dwarves have a 20% chance of ignoring hostile spell effects, and 40% when upgraded to Battle Dwarves.

Wood Elf / Grand Elf

Very good level 3 units. They deliver large amounts of damage when upgraded. Their bad side is their low health. Defend your elves with dendroids and keep them away from enemy melee troops.

Your Elves will be the first priority of enemy castle turrets, so make sure you cast protective spells on them. Stone skin and air shield will work well against turrets and shooters. Also casting shield if enemy melee units comes too close. If a large group of units attack them in melee combat you should use the wait or defend command.

Pegasus / Silver Pegasus

The pegasi are weak combatants, but their speed makes them exellent archer-rushers and siege units. The presence of pegasi on the battlefield also cause enemy spells to cost an additional 2 spellpoints.

Be careful to not let the enemy surround them, because they will die quickly.

Dendroid Guard / Dendroid Soldier

I wish these cool units weren't so easy to kill. After all, why should a compact tree have less defence skill than a minotaur in thin plate armor, or a giant cow?

The good thing about dendroids is their cheap cost and large numbers per week. Many dendroids can make you survive for a long time under siege because of their large numbers and high health. They are exellent at stopping enemy moat crossers since the enemies will be held in place in the moat.

They are not good attackers because of their slow speed unless you have something that speed them up, so they should generally be used as defenders. Remember to attack incoming archer-rushers like dragon flies to prevent them from getting to your shooters.

Unicorn / War Unicorn

Unicorns are fast and have reasonable combat skills. They can be used for offense as much as defence. They give all units next to them magic resistance, so if you defend against a siege, place your units next to the unicorns to protect them from spellcasters.

They also have the ability to blind other creatures, but remember that the ability is counted as a spell. That means that dragons, undead, and magic elementals cannot be blinded.

Green Dragon / Gold Dragon

Gold dragons are one of the best 7th level units in the game. They have high attack, defense, and speed. They are also immune to spell levels 1-4 and can attacks two adjacent units at once. Always try to attack units in a line to damage two creature stacks in one shot. Be careful not to kill your own units in the same way.

An exellent tactic is to use a bunch of Gold Dragons and a hero with high spell power who knows the Armageddon spell. Your dragons will be left unharmed!
