This is the archive of all news that was ever posted on the old black and bluish-purple site. It ranges from June 2000 - December 2000. I don't know if there's anything useful in here or not, but I figured it couldn't hurt to put this up. One warning - internal links are probably broken and I will not take the time to fix them. All external links should still work.
December 21, 2000 - Heroes III Complete Ships! Pre-orders of Heroes III Complete for Macintosh shipped from 3DO yesterday. Hopefully they will come in by Saturday, else we'll all have to wait until after Christmas to play it.
December 13, 2000 - Future site! Help me make the new site as good as possible! Please give me your opinions on my possible future site designs. You can see them
here,
here, and
here.
December 13, 2000 - Update from John Morris:
Just thought I would drop you a note to tell you that Heroes 3 Complete has
gone gold and is now in duplication.
- December 6, 2000 - Site Updates: I added links to a couple Heroes III reviews, added a column for which Heroes games you have on the players page, and updated some information about Heroes III Complete.
- December 3, 2000 - Lots of news tonight, so read the next several updates to find out what's going on. I made some small changes to the site, and I've been getting an increase in e-mail lately. Thanks to everyone who's been writing and visiting.
- December 3, 2000 - Player List Modified. E-mail addresses are no longer displayed in the Player List, and you now e-mail people by clicking on their name. I also added a column for GameRanger names, so if you want your GameRanger name listed in the Player List, just e-mail it to me.
- December 3, 2000 - Update from John Morris regarding Heroes III Complete:
Just finished off GameRanger support.
Map editor didn't make it (again).
Should be declared gold at the end of this week.
- December 3, 2000 - I updated the Heroes III Complete page with some new info I received.
- December 3, 2000 - Rumor. Mac Game Database has an entry saying that Heroes Chronicles is coming to Macintosh. Thanks to Brian Rumsey for pointing this out.
- December 3, 2000 - Clan MacGaming has some Heroes III Complete screenshots that 3DO sent out.
- December 3, 2000 - Files page updated. All four Heroes Chronicles desktops are now available in a Mac-friendly format in 1024x768 resolution. I also added a Heroes II saved-game editor. Note that this is Heroes II, not Heroes III.
- November 29, 2000 - Heroes III Complete available for pre-order from 3DO Direct Online Store! The game costs $39.95 and is expected to ship on December 19. If you order from 3DO Direct, you'll get free Priority Mail shipping as part of a holiday special! I ordered mine already. Special thanks to the Eagle Eye of Tow4bts for pointing this out to me.
- November 29, 2000 - Name This Site! To complement planned site redesign, I am accepting ideas for a possible name change. If you have a good name for a Heroes of Might & Magic oriented website, feel free to send it in. If I choose your name, you'll get my undying gratitude. (or something like that.)
- November 29, 2000 - Site Updates: I updated the Heroes III Complete page and also made minor appearance/navigation changes to several pages.
- November 19, 2000 - New Feature: There is now a Heroic Deeds section on the Players page where people can share stories and screenshots of their glorious deeds.
- November 19, 2000 - Site Plans: I am going with Arial font and web-safe colors on all pages, and I have started doing that today. Sadly, it's a little brighter than I wanted, but the web-safe colors only give me so much to choose from. I will also be resturcturing the menu system on this site and adding a much-needed section for game information, including bestiary and gameplay details. I also improved the descriptions of the Heroes III Complete screenshots.
- November 16, 2000 - Heroes III helps prevent Alzheimer's Disease! According to neurological research, your brain will build up a reserve of neurons if you engage in a lot of intellectual activity, and this reserve will replenish and repair brain cells when you are older and your brain starts to deteriorate. Intellectual activity includes things such as playing chess, understanding classical music, and playing Heroes III.
- November 16, 2000 - I apologize for not updating this very much lately, but I've gotten pretty busy with schoolwork and other things in the past couple weeks. Hopefully I'll have some new stuff over thanksgiving break.
- November 8, 2000 - Aside from making some cosmetic changes to some parts of the site, I also posted seven full-sized screenshots of Heroes III Complete running on a Macintosh. The text descriptions will be written better in the near future when I have more time.
- November 5, 2000 - I put up a new page for Heroes III Complete which, if you missed it the first time, is coming out for Macintosh in the near future. Get all the details here!
- November 5, 2000 - Upcoming Competition: I once said that I would run another competition like The Rogue's Challenge if Armageddon's Blade is ever released for Macintosh. Now that Heroes Complete is coming out, I once again intend to run a competition. It will not be until early 2001, because Heroes Complete is not out yet, but until then, look at The Rogue's Challenge to see what I did last time, and feel free to let me know if you would be interested in participating in a competition.
- November 5, 2000 - Site updates:
- OS X - I removed a screenshot that I felt was unnecessary.
- Interview - I posted the dates the interview was conducted on.
- Files - I added a desktop picture from Heroes Chronicles: Master of the Elements
- Players - I added the 41st player to the list
- Links - I added more links.
- FAQ - I took it out of the menu and table of contents, because it is outdated.
Most of the changes were small, but if people like the desktop picture I added, I'll put more up.
- November 2, 2000 - Upcoming feature: I am going to have some type of 'feats of heroism' or 'hall of heroes' page on this site in the near future, but I'm too busy to do it tonight. The first thing I'll post in there will be Ivor the Ranger killing 134 Gold Dragons with a rather small army. If anybody else has any good battle stories w/screenshots, e-mail me!
- November 2, 2000 - Heroes III Complete is coming out for Macintosh! For those that don't know, Heroes III Complete contains:
- Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia
- Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon's Blade (expansion)
- Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death
I don't know when it will be available, but this is what John Morris said about it, "It is official...and almost finished." He did not specifically say that the Map Editor will be included, but one would assume that it will be there. A rumor on the IMG message board would lead me to believe this will be available at the end of November. Rather good timing for Christmas shopping and not far behind the Windows version of the boxed set. I am one happy rogue today. I can finally use the updated rogue art for my little icon to the right too! :-)
I'll be writing a lot in the near future, but for now you can read more about Heroes III and Armageddon's Blade at Worlds of Might and Magic hosted by 3DO.
- October 25, 2000 - I added a few more links to the links page. I also learned that the Linux version of Heroes III will run on a Mac with Linux PPC. There is also a demo and map editor available for the Linux version of the game, but the editor only works on intel-compatible computers. Hopefully I'll be writing more on these topics in the near future...
- October 15, 2000 - Not much to post this week, but I do have a few pictures of Heroes III runnning in Mac OS X.
- October 8, 2000 - The entire John Morris interview was posted.
- October 5, 2000 - Lo and behold! This is the third week in a row that I've been able to update this site on Thursday night. I might have something going here. Anyway, I learned the hard way that it is very time consuming converting an e-mail message into html format if you do it by hand using a text-editor. Either way, Page 1 of my John K. Morris interview has been posted!
- September 28, 2000 - I cleaned up the reflection I wrote about The Rogue's Challenge.
- September 28, 2000 - I am in the process of conducting an e-mail interview with John K. Morris of Evolution Interactive, the man who ported Heroes III to the Macintosh! Hopefully I'll be able to post it soon.
- September 28, 2000 - Can you believe this? Only a week between updates! I'm getting good. I don't have too much today, and I'm mostly just cleaning up things on the site tonight. I would do more, but I have homework.
- September 21, 2000 - I posted my reflections on the Rogue's Challenge.
- September 21, 2000 - I added Nu's 'Tourney Map' to the files page.
- September 21, 2000 - I added a FAQ/bugs page, and answer some common questions about the game.
- September 21, 2000 - Clan MacGaming has confirmed that Heroes III will run on Mac OS X in the 'Classic' environment.
- September 21, 2000 - I had become busy near the end of the summer and beginning of the semester, so I haven't been able to update this site like I intended. I am free tonight, mostly because I forgot to bring my homework with me, so we'll see how much I can get done on this site in one night.

- July 23, 2000 - Nu is running a Heroes III tournament for Mac gamers.
- July 18, 2000 - I just added the 36th player to the Mac Player List today, so that is coming along well. If people would e-mail me with good times for GameRanger meetings, I'll try and get some word around about that.
- July 14, 2000 - I've been sick for a few days, so updates aren't coming as quickly as I would have liked, but I now have a 'Files' page on here that has a few utilities and a map available for download. I still have more plans for the future, so stay tuned!
- July 5, 2000 - MacGamer's Ledge mentioned this site on Monday, and as a result, 5 new players joined the Mac Player List, and 3 more people joined the Rogue's Challenge. In the near future, news will be moved to a separate page, but for now, this will have to do.
- June 30, 2000 - I have moved Moandor's Mac Player List to this site.
