Inferno 4 - 100 archers reward?
Inferno 4 - 100 archers reward?
In map 4 you get a quest from the shadow dragons to get 100 archers. I thought ok, that can be arranged so I came with 100 hunters and you know what the dragons got pissed and I didn't fulfill their wishes. At that moment I didn't want to wait any longer to gather 100 normal archers so I grinded their bones into dust and got the goodies behind the gate (+4 defense is just yummie).
Now my question is, what is the normal reward if you would fulfill the quest?

yep, raelag has a bit of a problem with the old sylvan troops and the flighty elves desert him in droves, i was down to about 90 by the time i got to the gate! So i also squashed the dragons, couldn't be bothered building up to 120 or so archers

A way arround that is bring a elven heroes up to near the dragons with the 100 and have them sit till you get Agreal there. Then make sure agreal has a full move and switch armies. Also, don't take more then the 100 ammount, even if you have to leave some with the elven hero. You loose them all, and waste any above 100.

Yes, that is what happens. The game script, however, says that bringing 500 or more hunters will give you a bonus artifact (dragon tongue sword) and another cutscene. Never tried it myself. Anyone to confirm whether the script works?Mytical wrote: Also, don't take more then the 100 ammount, even if you have to leave some with the elven hero. You loose them all, and waste any above 100.
yeah, ha! I foolishly showed up with 160 Master Hunters, the dragon said thanks, nuked all of them, and all I got for a reward was he opened the stupid gate. I should just killed the bastard.
Edit: Er, I was actually replying to Mytical's post... 2 more came before I finished typing so it seems a little out of context now.

Sorry Pitsu, would have to reinstall to vs 1.1 to find out. Only way I would try this is if they were free creatures. A simple artifact and special cutscene isn't THAT important (even for the tear of asha I would not trade 500). Anybody with the 1.1 version want to use the add_army to test? If not I will reinstall and try it out. Currently @ 1.2 (I know I am a glutton for pain ). Since I have put h5 aside for now and currently am playing BG II and older Homm on gametap it is not as important for me to worry about what problems 1.2 has.

IIRC the list is somewhere in the data files. I do not have it in a comfortable file to share at the moment, but it should go as follows

haven upgraded level1 creature - 2
etc.
haven archangel - 14
inferno 15 - 28
necro 29 - 42
sylvan 43 - 56

Dungeon 71 -84
Fire elemental 85
water elemental 86

Just brought them 500+ and yep you get a special cutscene where Agrael says "I guess this is what are to become of the Elves, mere shadows of themselves." Then you see like a flaming sword, then the elves get roasted and you get the Dragon Tongue Sword. For 500 Elves....they can keep itPitsu wrote: Yes, that is what happens.
