Or better: an update for an existing mod?
Hi everyone!
Sometimes ago (in the good ol' 1.1 times ) i searched for a modification that increased neutral stack sizes, luckily a moderator gave me a link to a site
http://www.dd.chalmers.se/~andejons/
and everything was fine!
Unnnnfortunatly after the 1.2 patch my precious little mod quit working, searched for a newer version (though on the site linked above it says that the file "neutrals.pak" was last modified on 30.06.2005.... definitly AFTER 1.2 but even the new file doesn't work, i guess it isn't "1.2 ready")....
..... so, as you might imagine I could really use some help with this one, i prefer playing on easy and normal but the small neutral stack sizes really give me the blues!
So, could any of you cunning modders take a look on this file (neutrals.pak) and eventually discover, why it won't work and maaaaybe how to fix this?
Thankful greetings and hopeful praises,
Weix

No problem, I just updated the modified file. Next time, after next patch for example, especially for this kind of small mods, you can do the following:
- rename pak to zip
- unzip to a folder with the same name
- locate and open the modified file(s) using wordpad or a better text editor
- change little something and undo
- save and exit
- delete the original zip
- zip the unzipped folder to a zip file with the same name
- rename back to pak
- enjoy

Aaaaaaalright, so patch 1.3 is out and i tried to update the mod myself this time...
....i renamed the .pak to .zip, opened the file and chanded/undid something then zipped it again...
....my problem is.... after renaming the .zip to .pak again it still "behaves" like a .zip file (so the file can still be opened or unzipped).... therefore the game doesn't recognize the mod...
...my question is, what did i do wrong?
I used win.rar for all this!

Strange. Are you sure you didn't rename it ".pak.zip" (could happen if the extensions are hidden in Windows)...omegaweix wrote:Aaaaaaalright, so patch 1.3 is out and i tried to update the mod myself this time...

Hmmm, I'm rather sure that it's only a .pak now... silly question, where could i disable hidden extensions?Marzhin wrote:

And the other .pak files in the data folder do not behave like "normal" zip files (on my system), I'd have to asign winrar manually to them if i wanted to do so.... strange, isn't it?
So i'll try futher, thanks for your suggestions so far...[/i]

Thanks Marzhin, this did the trick, it really was a pak.rar type.... corrected this but....
now the game won't start anymore (when the neutrals.pak file is in the data folder)...
....another problem or could this mod be incompatible with 1.3?
A pity if it was
