So, why make a fake story? :|
Because unlike the other characters, Shadya has some brains and can lie. She's not very good at it, but considering the general intelligence of the population of Ashan, she's probably seen as a genius.

Actually, the peasants in the first Haven map were fairly smart -- they wanted to keep well out fo the way of the demons.

It was just their luck to run into a tainted tempermental queen. :)

They had the options "Get killed now" and "Maybe get killed later". They went with the first, and you call them smart? :|

Sure, I'd rather be killed quickly by a human swordsman than eaten alive by a hungry horned demon. :proud:

Besides, if I were a peasant, I wouldn't expect my queen to kill me just because I refused to be slaughtered by demons.

Damn, It's hard to describe how much one hate Isabel :devious:

Someone wasn't paying attention in history class.

Seriously, wouldn't it have been easier to run away from Isabel then to fight her? Or pretend to go along and then go AWOL?

Just because Haven got a Middle Ages-theme, doesn't mean that everything must be exactly as it was IRL.
For instance, Nicolai was dearly loved by his people (unlike the cruel medieval kings of Europe).

So if I were one of the Griffin peasants, I would except my beloved king to choose someone kind-hearted as his wife, not some bloodthirsty murderer like Isabel.

It's fairly obvious Nicolai didn't make them go to war. :) Come to think of it, did Isabel have authority to the execute the Peasants? She herself was not acting on Nicolai's orders.

well, guys, it seems that you are confusing a queen with a snow white, in how looks Isabel is a queen, the earlier "isabel" looks too innocent

and how it act, well, is also a queen ;)

anyway the story seems somehow interesting, and can let interesting things in the xpansion, but also it seems that is the same H3 story reworked in other direction, -the argument of the returned king-, anyways, its a loooot more interesting than in H3

She was royalty. They were disrespectful. There's enough authority right there.

Clearly not paying attention. Plenty of loved monarchs killed those that disagreed with them in painful ways. Dracula's still a national hero around here.

Not joining the army = treason. They still kill people for that.

She was nobility, but to be royalty, she would have actually had to have been married. Were those even her family's lands she was wandering through? I can't remember at the moment.
Thunder Titan wrote:Not joining the army = treason. They still kill people for that.
Again, if Isabel had no authority or jurisdiction there (she was not the queen and was not acting on the King's orders) then it's not treason.

It's okay to call for volunteers, but unless these were her peasants, conscription would be a violation of the rights of the lord/lady whose land it was.

The priest that was gonna marry Nicolai and Isabel said:
"..marriage between our BELOVED sovereign Nicolai and..".

Besides, he seems very noble and caring for his people.
In Fantasy-games, the kings of the human kingdoms are in general very loved by their people. Just check out Warcraft, among other games.
This is fantasy, not the Middle Ages of Europe.

I wonder how long that priest would be breathing if he had said "..marriage between our despicable sovereign Nicolai and..".

I wouldn't have let him live.

Besides, I'm assuming things do not work in Ashan, as it did here. Not strictly, either way. The fact remains though, Isabel's current servants didn't mind slaying those peasants for her.. Makes you wonder.

Yeah, i'm sure "..marriage between our NOT REALLY HATED sovereign Nicolai and.." would have went over very well.

BT wrote:She was nobility, but to be royalty, she would have actually had to have been married.
Royalty usualy married other royalty back in the day (royalty by blood btw). Nobility was granted with land ownership.

He could simply have skipped the word "beloved" and said:
"..marriage between our sovereign Nicolai and.."

I doubt he would use the word unless it was true.
