Uh? But that is massive, +5 moral would give you +25% to TOTAL damage? From what I can tell, +5% damage per point of morale. How does retribution work?
PLENTY questions
I just tested Retribution with 14 Archangels commanded by a Godric who had 11 attack, Expert Attack, and Battle Frenzy against a stack of Liches. The Archangels should do 14 (number of Angels) x 51 (base damage) x (1 + (0.05 x 27 (difference between attack and defense))) x 1.15 (Expert Attack) = 1929 damage with no Retribution. With Retribution and 5 morale the Archangels did 2411 damage, with 4 morale they did 2315 damage, with 3 morale they did 2219 damage. 2411/1929 = 1.24987, 2315/1929 = 1.2001, 2219/1929 = 1.15033.
yeah, that would be massive, except that in my experience it doesn't work... however, i've just remembered that i did my calculations with Archers. Would it be possible that it only works in melee? That could explain how i did not notice anything.
EDIT: didn't see vicheron's last post. vicheron, would you mind testing with ranged attackers, please?

Godric with 11 attack, Battle Frenzy, Archery, and Unicorn Horn Bow.
52 Inquisitors vs. Liches (27 attack vs. 15 defense)
Damage without Retribution should be 52 x (10 - 13) x (1 + (0.05 x 12) x 1.2 = 998 - 1297
Damage with Retribution and 5 morale was 1247 - 1622, with 4 morale 1198 - 1557, with 3 morale 1148 - 1492.
5 morale: 1247/998 = 1.24949 - 1622/1297 = 1.25057
4 morale: 1198/998 = 1.20040 - 1557/1297 = 1.20046
3 morale: 1148/998 = 1.15030 - 1492/1297 = 1.15034
416 Marksmen vs. Liches (15 attack vs. 15 defense)
Damage without Retribution should be 416 x (3 - 9) x 1.2 = 1497 - 4492
Damage with Retribution and 5 morale was 1871 - 5615, with 4 morale 1797 - 5391, with 3 morale 1722 - 5166.
5 morale: 1871/1497 = 1.24983 - 5615/4492 = 1.25
4 morale: 1797/1497 = 1.20040 - 5391/4492 = 1.20013
3 morale: 1722/1497 = 1.15030 - 5166/4492 = 1.15004

It makes a creatures turn come faster, by that the creature stack you cast Divine Guidance on moves a couple of spaces to the left in the initiative bar, depending on the creatures base initiative against those that would have taken the turn before them. Like If your peasants for some reason are before your archers, casting DG on the archers will move them after what I have experienced 1-3 spaces to the left ahead of the peasants, but as said it all depends if you have artifacts which affect the creatures initiative and so on.
And no, since it is a special ability and not a spell it neither cost anything or can be cast with mass or area effect.
Well thats the best I could come up with....

I was surprised at how practical an ability it is once I started using it. There are any number of occasions in both neutral stacks and against opponents where moving a stack's action up is a lifesaver.Rainalkar wrote:So far as I see it, I would never give a level up to take that ability, I'm really unimpressed with it (I still need to see the math though). +1 luck/moral - anytime over divine guidance.

Agree. I've also found myself using Teleport Assault just for the initiative boost. Being able of bumping a unit like that is a very nice ability to have. Besides, the alternatives mostly suck- diplomacy could be OK, depending on the map, but neither Recruitment nor Estates has anything to do on a main hero.
