Night

Unread postby Nebs » 28 May 2006, 20:15

Anyone likes it? So far, only seen it in last Sylvan map, and to me it looked stunning. Hopefully we'll see more maps with it. That is, if it's easily 'addible' in map editor.

Yes, it's very nice.

Mild Spoiler:
Actually, it's sort of a quest to get rid of the night- though the map doesn't really tell you that.

I never knew night-time existed as well. Very warcraft-y, as I've said of a few other aspects of HoMM V, but a nice touch nonetheless. Can't wait till I get to that part of the campaigns!

I did not like it becasue the goodies were hard-to-spot. Well, it's night, right? So it's supposed to be like that - but I did not like it for this reason. Looked cool though.

WOW!

Nice, but it would need some building lights and night sound effects...

Am I correct: the Emerald Dragons seems a bit bigger than it was? (If so I'm glad. Seems that my proposition about making the Dragons bigger has been noticed :))

I'm happy that there are those big trees on the adventure map. I thought they threw them out from the final game...

Really wish they had - they seem to be one of the slow-down causes.

Oh and... awesome night!

Looks great :)

I would be pleased if we will be able to create night maps in the editor. And the glowing things looks even better in the night, and I think with less light in maps the game runs smoother too, lightning demands more power from your computer or Im wrong here? ;|

@dragonn

Yeah, the dragons look bigger especially if you compare the green one up aginst the shadow dragon.

There are some other nice things concerning lightning in game.

For instance (slightly spoilerific)...

In one other Sylvan map, you have to fight some Fire Elementals in underground, and great thing is, when you beat them, lightning decreases, like someone flipped the switch. Quite nice touch.

Wow, it looks amazing. More diversity can never be too bad ;)
It will of course make it harder to see the ressources but the fact that they even bothered to make night more than makes up for it I think :)

Its not that hard to spot the resources, they glow a little so I think it makes it easier to see them in dark, like the resources underground.

Hmm, I just made an assumption, I obviously don't know for sure. Generally I just like night better than day. That goes for real life too ;)

Ah,but I want to! :( *sigh*!As you wish,dear slayer :devious:

And the resources are quite hard to spot, even during daytime.Instead of the glow, they shouldve put the button on the minimap to show the resources.

Night = less people around. And the moon's pretty. Otherwise I don't really have a preference.
