ImageHeroes in Space?

This game is in development for quite some time, they claim more than a year, albeit for Early Access or Release Date you will need to wait.

The developer is Czech Oxymoron Studio, which already worked on games like Total War: Three Kingdoms or Quantum Brake or Mafia II/III and the list would be longer. With the top, completely developed on their own, Project Hospital.

New War in Ancient Universe

The Siren star system, birthplace of a galactic alliance, and the homeworld of a lost Primals civilization, has been cut from the rest of the galaxy. As a result, the carefully built alliance split into bickering factions and secluded colonies. These days, hardly anyone pays attention to the ruins scattered all over the few habitable planets of a freshly isolated system. The deeper you venture into the uncharted regions, the stronger the feeling of endangerment grows. There is something else. An entity, a shade, an echo of whispers from below.

Key elements

  • Explore a rich sci-fi world and discover secrets of a lost civilization
  • Collect powerful artifacts, secure important resources, upgrade your bases and hire the strongest units
  • Level-up your commanders and crush your opponents in exciting turn-based battles

You can read more and subscribe at silenceofthesiren.com or at Steam. Project Hospital was success, so there's a reason why to keep expectations high this time.

What is unclear is, if they will plan to support longevity with map / campaign editor, modding support or it will have several time replay value. So smaller in scope and ambitions but faster to complete. This or that, everlasting question. Image

This looks almost like it's just a skin on top of HoMMIII, I have to say, I am excited.

Just show me a town screen and I'm sold.

Exciting to me, but I really don't like the sci-fi aspect. I suppose not that interested in learning a whole bunch of weird names and weird creatures (some look like rats and some like frogs or beavers?) with no roots in mythology somewhere.

But the gameplay does seem to be what we want. TBS is desperately short of titles now.

Hope somebody will mod it into Heroes after a while.

Cool! I remember someone did a scifi version of HoMM called Spaceforce Captains years ago but it wasn't all that great. Hopefully these guys do a good job! I wasn't blown away by the screenshots, however the video shows that it's using the 2D pixel art in a 3D world 'Songs of Conquest' style trick that looks much cooler in motion!

Oooh.. new dev diary update has revealed their town screens.. sure enough they're doing that HoMM style too. Nice to see creatures doing stuff outside dwellings. I loved that in HoMM1 and was sad that it didn't continue through the series (other than some dragons in one HoMM3 town) as it brings a lot of life to the towns.

They've put out another dev diary update. This time talking about unit upgrades (using their space rat faction as an example) which appears to be handled the same as HoMM.

Looks like things are coming along nicely.. it's nice to see the map and also the base (castle) screen in motion. As expected all base management stuff is pretty much what we know and love in HoMM games.

And a 10min gameplay video too.. I was a bit worried about the graphics before, so am pleased to see they're pulling all the tricks (kinda like Songs of Conquest did) to make the cartoonish assets come to life with animation, lighting and zoom/panning effects (even in the bases).

I've said before how I love how they've done the HoMM1 like creatures standing in front of their dwellings system, but now I see & love even more that they also disappear after you hire them! The decoration becomes useful animating reminders of creatures to hire.

They've announced the early access release date of September 2024.. full release is still a while away though..

Looks like they've released a new demo on steam that contains multi layers/worlds (eg there's a cool space orbital layer) and they've done a new dev diary about special buildable sites around the map that you can build a choice of different outpost buildings on (eg radar, turrets & resource mines).

Looks like they've done another nice dev diary on day and night cycles that appear to change the city screen too which is cool. Some of those alien planets look really nice under darkness with lots of glowing plants and things.

Now I see, currently party of Pirates went out of our government, so they are all stuffed here. Wonders of digitalization. :D

For sure game is playable over a year, EA starts in three days, 30.9.2024. Just mark that date everyone!
