How about Flaming Nightmare. Or Nightmare Flambe. It describes the upgrading process perfectly.
Red Hot Nightmare... or thet might work better for the Succubus...
Dark Raider -> Dark Champion is a good name, even if it's too late now. Maybe we can get them to change it in an Exp or a patch, though by then we'll probably be used to IT.

Well, for me it's logical. I once said how I see it so I'll say it once more:theLuckyDragon wrote: Aw, what the heck. Sex-changing creatures are a sort of 'brand' of Heroes, at least that's how I see it. So what if it's illogical? It's funny!
The mechanism works like that: there is a mage, and he summons a Rakshassa from her plane. Then the mage gets a promotion, and now with bigger funds and knowledge he is able to summon another (statisticaly stronger ) being in the place of the she-cat: the Raja. It is not a traditional type of an upgrade when an old unit gets better equipment/training. In this case one unit is replaced with another one.
Maybe that's the case...

And what happenes when rani is upgraded to raja? They all get consumed by the mage in order to have enough energy to summon rajas?dragonn wrote:Well, for me it's logical. I once said how I see it so I'll say it once more:

No. Rani is send back to her plane, and Raja is summoned in her place. It can be seen in most fantasy games when for instance an Air Elemental is replaced with Greater Air Elemental etc. but you still can summon only one creature...the mages control the number of creatures that can be summoned at a time.DaemianLucifer wrote: And what happenes when rani is upgraded to raja? They all get consumed by the mage in order to have enough energy to summon rajas?

Sounds logical, not a bad theory at all.dragonn wrote:No. Rani is send back to her plane, and Raja is summoned in her place. I haven't read every post around here, but just how hard/easy is it for the END-USER (ie: you or me) to edit/change the default names in the game to something else?!?!
That way folks could have Minotaur/Minotaur King or whatever the heck they please as the name of the unit.
Is that possible? At least within reason? Or is it deep coded into the game and hard/difficult to change?

Actually, I don't think it's "hard coded", but more like "lots of code". It's probably in all the various files in data.pak, so if you want it to work you have to change the names of lots of files.
@dragonn
It's a nice idea, indeed. But I liked it more when things were illogical.

I'd think they only keep the name associated with the unit at one place (as in what you encounter on the adventure map and your army), but that it also has it in dwelling descitpion and the like. This means that it should be quite easy to change the majority of the occasions you have to see it, but trickier to do it absolutely everywhere.

Well it is in the original code in HIV,or the equi team would surely change the idiotic megadragon. As for previous sequels,Im not sure. But I believe that the names are, unfortunately, hardcoded.Modifiable creatures would be a nice addition though.Wolfshanze wrote:I haven't read every post around here, but just how hard/easy is it for the END-USER (ie: you or me) to edit/change the default names in the game to something else?!?!

Time to ressurect this one with the mighty snow ape and lava dragon -> magma dragon(or is it vice versa?)
My suggestions for a change would be yeti(because even this sounds better then snow ape),and fire drake -> lava drage. But seeing how hellcharger stayed,Im a bit sceptical about the changes for these

A little off topic but I have always thought the upgrade for Unicorn should be White Unicorn. I know I know, a little weak sounding. White Unicorns stand for purity and according to myth was one of the few creatures a dragon did NOT want to tangle with. Not even the fact that the dragons had flight, breath weapons, and a size advantage seemed to make a difference. A battle was 50/50, dragons loosing as many times as they won. Now that is something (as dragons were supposedly the most feared creature from the 'prime material plane' (ie not some infernal, elemental, ect plane). Anyhow lots of good suggestions and some genuinely funny stuff here, so keep up the good work.
Warning, may cause confusion, blindness, raising of eybrows, and insanity.

I agree with you about the Snow Ape, but we don't know whether it will be a large hairy humanoid or a white gorilla. As for the dragons, Warlock made a nice suggestion before to rename them as Salamanders. Could be something like Salamander -> Volcanic Salamander... well, *cough*, anyone have better ideas for the upgrade?DaemianLucifer wrote:Time to ressurect this one with the mighty snow ape and lava dragon -> magma dragon(or is it vice versa?)
