A couple of screenshots. The first one is my Terran Valhalla, the biggest ship in the game (M0, battleship), docked with the Goner Aran, another M0 and actually a mobile shipyard.

Now, I haven't been driving the Aran (it's not for driving; it's too slow), so I didn't really realize just how big my Valhalla was... until I had a look with the external camera while I was down by the Goner shipyard.

Thaaaat's huge! Reeeally huge! This is the kind of starship you hear about in Star Trek; so large they can't be launched from or land on any planet, so they're built in space, outside the shipyard. The Val could start its engines and take the whole shipyard for a ride... :D

Not to be pedantic or anything, but I'd think that most proper spaceships (that is, not space shuttles and small stuff) is best built in space. Imagine the thrust needed to make the Nostromo break Earth's gravity 8|

Yes, yes, with "in space" I meant of course outside the shipyard as well. Normally ships are built inside shipyards, which are located in space; the Val will have to be screwed together in sections and bolted together in bare space. And yes, you are pedantic.

Here's another thing I ran into the other day; an upgrade of the "unknown M6" (Sohnen Mantis)... I checked with the forum and found this to be a Sohnen Basilisk, a.k.a. the "M7 of death". It's the biggest and baddest mofo I've encountered, and it whops my butt as much as it wants to. I needed the Valhalla, the Python, a quadrillion fighter drones and a lot of luck to take it out.

I haven't met the Scylla or Incubus yet... thank God..

I'd think the definition of a "shipyard" in space would be more flexible than for a land-based one ;)

Yah, you've seen the way they did it in Star Trek; the biggest starships don't dock inside the star bases, they stay outside. :)

XTC, the XTM equivalent mod to X3: Terran Conflict, is in full swing, and this time I'm actually part of the team making it. I don't have much skill in creating mods, but I'm skilled at spelling and punctuation. Thus, I'm doing proofreading. It's cool to actually play a part in making a game. :)

Hey, not bad. And bad spelling is a nuisance, for sure.
