X3

Unread postby Kalah » 27 Oct 2007, 20:28

Ethric's been pumping my ears full of praise for this space-sim game, so I'm gonna buy it so see what's what. Problem is, there are currently two new versions on Amazon...

X3 Reunion: Game of the Year 2007 Edition

X3: Reunion - Game of the year edition

I tried reading the reviews to get a feel for what the difference was... one reviewer said the cheaper (newest) version was made with cheap DVDs? I dunno... can I get some input here...?

Well, what I was wondering, was whether somebody had any concrete info on the differences between the two versions, re contents, mods, patches etc.

Patches and bonus packs are freely available from egosoft once you have registered your cd-key to their site. I can't see what would be different in those two editions.

I guess I'll spit out a few extra bucks then, just in case that guy was right and the newer version is printed on crappy DVDs.

This game is great ! One of my favourite actually. Though, when I saw it at first time, I would never belive that I would like that kind of gameplay..

@Kalah - buy "Game of the Year 2007 Edition (PC)". Its cheaper and this version (2.0) no longer has Starforce. I mean if you will buy 1.x you can, of course download 2.0, but there is a chance that SF driver will be installed during game setup.

OK, thanks. Just bought it, along with a great old flick called "The first great train robbery" starring Sean Connery & Donald Sutherland.

Want me to go ape in the Campfire, keeping people in line? Right now, posts are criss-crossing every which way... alchohol posts being posted in Rand Thoughts, random posts being made in the Food thread... but at the moment I don't have a problem - that is, unless you want me to..? ;)

Keep in mind that you dont need to hurry with the story-line missions. Unlike X2, here they can wait. So take your time

The storyline is more annoying than anything else, IMO. I never finished it, though I know what happens. Tedious storyline or roam about pirating... hmm, tough choice ;)

Well, I chose to start on the easiest mission, to learn the controls and the whatever. Currently following Nikkonofune through lots of gates, trying to retrieve a crystal from some pirate dude...
