First, my post was not intentionally directed only at you. I intended your post to be an example of the posts I was referencing.

Second, if this was not your intended tone, I apologize for using your post as an example. In the future, you may want to find a different way to express your appreciation, or it may be taken the wrong way. As the Cheshire Cat once said, "Say what you mean and mean what you say."

Finally, the original post was intended to dissuade people from posting anything that may annoy or frustrate TPTB. NHF here either, just trying to keep the peace.

Quote from Docent Picolan:
Docent Picolan wrote: Also we have to say that many people do not understand completely what the HotA addon is. And this is bad. Our project is not a WoG improvement addon, it is an independent addon for classic original Heroes of Might and Magic 3 The Shadow of Death game. It is compatible with the WoG system and may be installed on the WoG 3.58 as well as on the SoD 3.0(3.1,3.2) game. And definitely we are going to import some good ideas from the WoG (which will not spoil the balance) but they will be re-made in our original HotA style. And this features will be changed to the core with new graphics and ERM scripts. As for an example – we will have a new Commander system with new graphics, scills and stats.
Sorry, Salamandre ;)

Phantom, it is obvious you dont have idea of what ERM is. HotA can't exist without WoG, because it is MADE with WoG codes. Don't give me examples of graphics changes. Without WoG, HotA would never become a project.

It is my fault, as I said it can't RUN without it. I should say, it can't exist without WoG.

HotA developers use WoG code to construct HotA. They said they will use maybe LUA but it was abandoned I guess.

You quoted the wrong thing and forgot the important one:

As for the technical aspect – we do use the ERM script language from WoG in our add-on, and also the full compatibility with WoG is saved. Our players will be able to play WoG maps and campaigns
They try to kinda minimize the dependency but we are not fool:) All HotA is made with WoG codes. The changes are only graphics. But even graphics need WoG codes to work and display.

First of all, I gave you no examples. I gave you a quote from Docent Picolan saying that this does not need the WoG mod to run, which as you said, was a mis-speak on your part.

Second, I never disagreed or stated that WoG may have led to HotA.

Lastly, because of the nature of my post (90% quoted), you have no basis to say what I know or don't know about ERM scripting. You didn't mention the color green in your post, so your favorite color must be blue.

OK.

Conclusion:

WOG is ERM. HotA is build on ERM. Without ERM HotA can't run. Is it better now?

^ Now you are just teasing us. Those renders look great, and also in the Heroes 3 art style, which makes them even better. I assume these are part of the cove town?
Back from the dead? Maybe.

Sea Serpent -> Haspid

Unread postby bonecollector » 19 Apr 2009, 16:04

@ spartak
Those look really nice, but theres one thing that could be improved in my eyes :

the Sea Serpent doesnt really look like a DOWNgraded version of the Haspid to name it that way. Both look awesome for their own, but i would tweak the looks a bit further so it really reflect the status. Atm, they look different but from the looks its really hard to decide whos the weaker one.

Usually all (original) non-upgraded creatures have a "slumdog-look" compared to its upgraded version (e.g the angels / archangles) and u can easily derive its status just from the view.

mho remove the cobra-style neck from the Sea Serpent , then the Haspid looks really superior. OR make the neck thing of the Haspid bigger, but id prefer the first one. Additionally hmm, give the Sea Serpent normal eyes (blackones) and just make the Haspid have glowing eyes.

hope that was constructive :)

keep the good work up !

We will think. Probably appearance still will change.
We have some interesting ideas from Russian forum.
But your opinion for us also is important. We will try to consider wishes of the majority of players.

There'll be new sea locations(such as chests, banks, etc...), right?
