I actually played the games in the order Dex 1, SS1 SS2 and enjoyed them in increasing amounts (thought it was close between the last 2). I really didn't find Deus Ex all that much different from an average shooter and I found the whole "multiple pathways" thing really clumsily done. I just loved the atmosphere of the SS games, the off the wall computer sim levels in the first one and the superb story in both of them. Deus ex was a cool game, no doubt, but it didn't grab me in the way the SS games did.

System Shock 1 was released in 1994. Deus Ex in 2000, and System Shock 2 in 1999.Psychobabble wrote:I actually played the games in the order Dex 1, SS1 SS2 and enjoyed them in increasing amounts (thought it was close between the last 2).
