wow, new appreciation for the Haven

Unread postby Leded » 25 Dec 2007, 19:45

dam, Expert Dark Magic, Fallen Knight, Vampirism on a large stack of Vindicators :D. i mean how often do they NOT kill at least 1 unit to activate Cleave. if your using Laszlo even better :D.

i don't know i seems to spend more time focusing on using Dark Magic as a Knight more than Light. if your lucky you can even grab Puppet Master out of the mage guild.

cool, so, what's your point? oh, you want to start a discussion. :creative:
yeah, i agree, if you focus on dark in haven than you are just gonna own everyone. i think Nival should've done a better job in that so if you have light you are waaaay more powerful than if you have dark. i mean come on, they are supposed to be the good guys.

I think Suleman will like this :D

Anyway, just play some of Timothy Duncan's maps, and you can just conclude yourself, how good are the good guys.

And for topic? I would rather say Klaus + Vampirism.

I personally prefer Dougal for normal maps, then Klaus for large+.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

oh how i love the people here :P LOL

but yeah you pick up Fallen Knight and Twilight you got yourself a pretty impressive buff to your Spellpower for Dark Magic. and if you got Leadership who cares about that measly -1 to your troop morale for it. i mean dam Mass Haste your guys and Mass Slow theirs, that combined with using a might based hero, you got yourself an ass kicker there.
i mean it seems for the most part the Haven units lack any super neato abilities other than the ability to stomp a hole in people.

I've never played with haven but afther reading this I think I should give it a try.
doens't necro has the ability also to cast mass haste and mass slow? Why isit better if a haven hero cast then if a necro hero casts it?

oh yeah and about the units lacking any special abilities, absolutely true for the normal upgrades. renegades got some nice skills though like Cleave and Battle Dive.

oh yeah Cleave is super bad ass. seems as the new upgrades abilities are more geared towards a strong offense. Cleave vs. Shield Bash though, one adds more damage one prevents damage from being done to you. even the angels one can res your units the other can dish out some punishment to enemies. almost seems as they did a more creative job on the haven units lol.

some of the necro's new ones (skeleton warriors are really old ones but you get it) Skeleton Archers vs. Skeleton Warriors..... while i like the idea of having a nice horde of melee units, i still the think the archers are more effective if you can keep them protected. i kind of thought that stank to start with anyways before the warriors. i mean you upgrade a unit it should never "lose" abilities, i mean wtf they went from a melee unit to a range unit then they tac on the "melee penalty"?

i think the necro units have alot of lack luster abilities, cept for incorporeal which i think is super badass :D. i never minded that though, because you could build up a massive army of em.

they never really tweaked em like they did now, but then again i don't think multiplayer for this game was really got much attention until at least heroes4. i think when the first game came out people might have still been saying "what the F is the internet?!" still Heroes 1 had an interesting look... a tad "cartoon'y" but it was fun. but i suppose the driving force for game balancing has always been multiplayer. i mean if an overpowered unit or faction can help you kill the comp better.... is anyone really gonna complain?

dam i still remember when Sandro was a Warlock... and there were no necromancers.... and wtf minotaurs used to be warlock heroes what the crap happened!? now they are slaves? i thought they were badass now i feel bad playing the warlocks now cause the minotaurs don't get the respect they deserve!!! lol.

i still want them to bring back might or magic heroes for each faction some day lol
Haven: Knights or Clerics!
Necropolis: Necromancers or Death Knights!
Stronghold: Barbarians or Battle Mages!
and so on, i forgot alot of the others.

although i did like Heroes3 better than 4... 4 just seemed like a good idea gone bad.

Cleave is bad ass...nothing to say.
But dont u think that shield other+bash is even more bad ass?
I mean...u need 10 squires and u'r whole army has -50% dmg from ranged...
Same with skeletons.Shiled other too imba....skeleten archers behind skeleten warriors...brilliant!
However i still prefer Brutes-more defence,Paladins-they can remove curses and heal my angels. And they still do a damn lot of dmg!!
Also,i prefer archangels...just because they are pretty ^^
Dont angry the banana!

Try casting Vampirism on a bunch of Battle Griffins. If your Hero has preparation Skill then you have an untouchable stack. Battle Griffins have the battle frenzy ability.
