Has anyone beaten 'THUNK'?

The old Heroes games developed by New World Computing. Please specify which game you are referring to in your post.

I didn't find them on MapHaven. But how are they, compared to the WoG version? Not as complex, I presume?

edit: No, wait, I did find them. But they're for The Price of Loyalty and I don't have it.

P.S. I started with Last Hope again. I got rid of Red and somehow incapacitated Orange (the Thieve's Guild kept showing that he had no hero), but after that Green overwhelmed me. Darn. I guess you-- I mean Corribus :) won't be regaining his kingdom anytime soon on my computer!

Obviously, the H2 editor was much less complex (although, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing all the time) than the H3 editor. Plus the H3 version was made with WoG so we (and by we, I mean Fnord, who actually did all the scripting) were able to do much more esoteric stuff than if we had just had the H3 editor alone. Therefore you'll find that the H3 versions of the map(s) have much more story development (although the core story is still the same) and also many more quests.

That being said, while we have tried to preserve the difficulty of the maps in the H3 version (particularly of THUNK), I still think the H2 maps are superior as far as plain-old battle maps are concerned. Of course that might just be because you don't have all the story text to distract you. (Also as you know the H2 and H3 AIs are very different, so the maps also play very differently, despite both of them being fairly difficult).

Ah... that was the first expansion, right? Hm, I made about 23 H2 maps... I don't know how many of them required the various expansions, though.

Never knew of those after THUNK 8| I'll try to find them right now... that damnable essay for tomorrow can wait, well perhaps not... but I just loved those two, I have finished them about 7 times each :proud:

I've been praying for maps for H2 but never thought of the internet.- Quite stupid aye :D

Just founs celestial by a coincident and don't remember how I found HoMM community :S

Finally managed to beat that abode of evil B-) done all now :D

Great campaign and storyline! Far better than any of the original campaigns.- And a lot harder :D most of them, exceot one, I managed to beat in first attempt, but abode of evil has had me trying for ages :tired: think it must have een the seventh time now that I got it ;|

Thanks for a great campaign :-D


Uh, and sory for practicing mine skills as a necromancer :D just no need to start a new thread...

Ahh, I just stumbled upon this thread. Is the link for Map Haven permanently down? Or is there some alternate location to download these excellent maps?

Corribus - truly outstanding work. I've thoroughly enjoyed playing through the first few maps of this campaign!

I lost both Cave of Dreams and Retribution for Heroes II, and can't find either anywhere on the internet. Pity such great maps are rotting away into obscurity. Does anyone have them? With those last two, I could archive the campaign somewhere to prevent any chances they might be lost permanently.

I'm playing Thunk now, more than 10 years after I first saw it and was intimidated by that nasty barbarian.

It's the third month and I'm surviving!

Suspecting that something was wrong, I used the cheat code and found... the Thunk stuck at a spot between the Sword of Anduran (behind a barrier) and a signpost.

No wonder I'm alive still! Darn, I was beginning to think I am a good player!

I'm a few weeks into a game of THUNK right now. I'm really enjoying it.

Anyway, is this really unintentional? I find this quite surprising, considering that I believe there's only one way to split Corribus's starting troops and beat the peasants losslessly, and that configuration just happens to be the starting one.

Here's how I killed THUNK: capture all of Red's towns and castles. Then when the other colors threaten to take them back, just let them have them. If you're lucky, Red won't take one of his ally's castles. If a week goes by and Red doesn't have a town or castle, his heroes abandon him, and THUNK disappears.

When I started the scenario, I moved Corribus quickly off the island, defeating archmagi and power liches and moving west. I captured the Barbarian town at the end of the grassy peninsula, upgraded to a castle, built the shipyard and sailed home to castle Holbark.

I'm playing the scenario right now and Corribus is almost THUNK-esque. My attack skill is 33 and defense skill is 28. Another helpful hint when playing this scenario: keep an eye out for heroes available to recruit. If one of them has a weird name used in this scenario, they may have artifacts. Recruit them and give their best artifacts to Corribus. I got the Sword of Anduran this way.

First of all, I just wanted Tim to know that players still play his maps and having tons of fun.
I beat The Last Hope, I beat THUNK and found them fresh and brilliant. But did I know that *fun* only begins... You see, I play fHeroes2 engine, and AI works differently there. Abjudication was a pain in the ass since I was attacked immediately after (if) barrier was removed, and I had to run circles recapturing the cities again and again until Kyle took my boat and was lost in the sea... and now I'm trying to make sense of how do I try and do Toran Rift.
