Because it had been at least 24 hours since they closed a thread and they were going through withdraw?

Cooking Game has a limited appeal and it seams more of a show-n-tell then a game. Can't we carry a sixth game then?

Besides, from what I see Kalah rules that game.

We have those (Riddle game, RPG, "How well do you know" (even if that isn't listed (don't you just love nested parenthesises (such as this)?))), but they are in general far more creative than Caladont, which is just "post something which appends to the previous word", and thus becomes more of "post for postings sake". If someone other than DL had taken the duty of posting a score relatively often and chiding people for using proper nouns (I saw for example latin names), it would have been left open. It was also already closed down once since it had "ran it's course" - it's time for something else.

Wow, somebody is actually steamed at somebody other than me for closing a game, that's a nice, relaxing change of pace... :)

I think it's time to re-establish the 5-games rule. That means we have to close one of the five current ones if a new one is to be opened. I have a modest suggestion: the Cooking game, which doesn't seem to attract the large crowds (and my food is delicious, thank you very much...).

I am also issuing a challenge to all you game enthusiasts: Make something up. If you want to play a funny game, make something up. This is a forum, not a totalitarian state in which you have to beg the dictator that is I for permission; if you have a good (note that word though ;) ) suggestion for a new game you can bet 'chor ass I'll allow it.

Want something simple and uncomplicated? Make something up. Want something fun? Make something up. Just make sure it's something original (and no spamming, please :) ).

No, just one where you make a suggestion and the dictator decides if he likes it or not. :devious:

Yes, but if lots of members want a certain game I'll allow it nontheless (with few exceptions, like the RotC), even if I don't like it.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

I just think it is TOTALLY unfair to close a game that was active just because no one was keeping score! That is ludicrous! Absolutely the most absurd reason to close a game EVER.

How about a Castle game?

I'll explain.

Each player has a castle. You start with some currency (gold probably) and can buy stuff for that castle (this needs a lot of work, I wonder how to do it).
Then you (the hero) can explore the "countryside" and defeat creatures (and what-not).

King's Bounty Reloaded!

But, seriously, what do you think?

I could just have said that it was closed for having tunred into a pure spam game. Remind me not to give diplomatic answers to your questions.

Oh, and since there's the Questions and answers - how well do you know Heroes? game as well, I gguess that's two games that needs closing.

Yes, but the new one is very fun. Even if I don't always know the answer :). Oh and it looks like my new idea is a bust (the bach/bachelorette). Nobody interested (it seems) so at least we don't have to be concerned about that anymore.

Hm... that new one actually seems a bit inventive, original and is something for everyone... I'll approve it and shut two others down on the condition that TT either refrain from spamming in it or stay out of it entirely

I'm thinking of closing either Find the Flaws or the Yog Diary... leaning towards the Diary, and will close it today unless there are protests?

My FIRST argument was the logical and diplomatic one. It's way more fun to be a brat about it. At least I didn't call you a "Goose" or a "Nazi".

Can't you just leave the Yog Blog and stop calling it a game? It really doesn't hurt to have it open and who knows... maybe someone else will read it eventually and add an entry. :please:

PS.... Kalah did you see my HOMM3 Fantasy Draft game idea?

I do like Yog, and read it often, even if I don't post there (I have Lady Mystical's and Ideas for anything I could ever dream up, one for stories and the other for towns, creatures, spells, ect I might like to see in Heroes :)).

Some game ideas:

1. I liked gravyluvr's "Fantasy Draft for Heroes" idea. How about a Unit draft?
Same concept, but you draft units instead of Heroes. Then, in an endgame swing, you get gold and have to get a combination of troops you drafted to battle (the winner of that battle will have to be solved somehow...hmm...)

2. The Brain Teaser game I thought of a while ago. It needs work, but it's doable, IMO.

3. Faction Creation Contest- Have a contest to make your own faction (it's been done...for prizes even...but I think it could be interesting) At the very least, we can rub in (to Nival) the fact that the fans have good faction ideas. Judges would be needed for this one though...

4. A variation on Caladont:

This could be tournament-based. Each round each player (16 players for example) posts a word, Caladont-style (the next word has to have at least the last two of the previous one). The objective is to come out supreme, so you try to trip up your competitors by making pesky words (like ersatz :)) hoping he/she can't figure a word out. If a person can't find a word (or there isn't one...that would be evil :)), then he/she gets eliminated. The game ends with one supreme winner.

5. Some sort of wizard game:

A game where you get X magic power per round (I know...been playing too much Culdcept ). With that power, you cast spells to cripple/aid your enemies/allies. This idea needs a TON of work.

Okay, there we go! Five ideas.

Feel free to comment on them and help out with those concepts I haven't fleshed out (if you like the idea in question).

All right, the Yog diary is officially de-gamified. With the last post stemming from September 22th, it's not like it's flooding the boards with spam or anything...

The wizard game looks a bit like the old "Spells: Counter-Attack" (described here) - except that there weren't any restrictions (mana etc.) on spellcasting in that, so it gradually evolved into a have-at-it free-for-all game with no rules at all... I don't like to call it spam, but that's essentially what it was :)

From what you wrote at the old forum though, it sounded fun :D.

As for my wizard game idea:

Perhaps those who want to participate can make up spells for the game. When we have an "adequate" library of spells, then we can actually create the game.

The winning conditions would also have to be set (I would have it score-based personally):

Thus, spells that deal damage drop the victim's score (or something like that, because Hit Points are a fickle value :)). IMO, this could be an awesome game, but the pre-game phase would be :S insane (making the game itself).

I'll think up some ideas and post them in the coming days (until then, feel free to add your own ideas).
