Might and Magic 7 Tutorial

Unread postby Kareeah Indaga » 05 Jan 2007, 21:28

I think I used it on my first run through, and that's it. But I suppose that's the purpose of a tutorial. How about you lot, have any of you used it (or, alternatively, wished you'd had it to use in say, MM6?), or did you just wing it for your first game?

I think I used it a bit for the interface; I had already played MM8 so I knew a great deal about how the game worked, but there were of course a few things that were different.

Only once. I used her the very first time I played the game. Even though I had already played MM6 plenty of times, the tutor lady pointed out a few landmarks and got you off on the right foot.

Sure I did that, because, well, she was there and offered to help :)

Hehe, never. :-D I quickly understood that her main goal is to annoy the player with useless hints so switching her off is always the first thing I do in MM7.

Likewise. Sometimes there are useful tips in the tutorial that aren’t immediately obvious otherwise, especially in an unfamiliar series but also in familiar ones to see what’s changed, so I usually play though the tutorial of ANY game the first time I play it.

Unfortunately, she didn't explain the useful info, like the idea of recovery time mattering far more than attack damage/AC. MMVII was my first Might and Magic game, and there were my clerics, lumbering along in Chain without my even upgrading their chain skill . . . oh, well, live and learn.

Or, as was more often in the case in that first game, die and learn. :)

Yes, I use the turotial-npc help beacause MnM7 was my
first MnM that I play. It was realy cool to put the tutorial
part with this "npc-guide" idea.

Nah, but we didn't know that before we had actually heard what she had to say :)

Yes. Didn't help much though. Already played M&M 8 by then.

I used her the first time. Then it got too annoying then I turned off her advice.

Used it a bit at first... after all there were differences from 6 to 7.

But as i had actually played M&M8 before 7 i was aware of most of the big differences...
So i turned her off.

And every time since when i start a new party i want to stab her in the ribs cauz i always forget to turn her off when starting out.

I also did use the interface guide on my first and only complete run thru of MM7.

P.S. - JMK, could you please refrain from the profanity in future posts and replies? There may be younger people here, and I'd like to expose them to the better qualities of participating in this forum. :D

I already knew how to play from MM6.
