it's arguable... I think since it is something from the past that no longer exists it is used in english to describe that place... so I consider it to be an english word

It's Latin. laconicus in Latin means Spartan, and laconic made it to English as a reference to Spartan reputation for terseness of speech. Laconicum, otoh, was the name for Spartan bath, and remained to be an encyclopedia term.

And, yeah, I've got some free time at hand :D

you see the title: THE laconicum... that sounds english to me...

it is a latin word, that is being use in english to design that ancient type of bath... so... it's english

:) well I can put "the" in front of anything you like. The point is it doesn't appear in English dictionaries but rather encyclopedias. Anyway, thankfully we have a referee to put an end to this discussion...
