Ok, people seem to be negative about this, and it seems to stim from the paperdoll and Hot Seat. True, those things were bad, really really bad. Yet, they did take a step in the right direction, so lets at least give them credit for trying. Sure it should have been done earlier, and it should be better, but at least they have finally started on the correct path. This patch helped the memory leak (I think on really large maps there still exsists a problem, but it is better), the AI seems a bit smarter. I don't know if it still cheats however (havn't gotten arround to redoing the 'cheat' aspect yet). Sylvan was helped a little, so was inferno, and others didn't fair too bad. Inferno may even be able to go toe to toe with necros in large maps (lots of looms and the 5% extra for gating AND looms can = huge gated armies. And unlike necro's who get Skelly Archers you get some heavy hitters also. Plus you can gate your creatures right next to their ranged units to stop them being ranged (regardless where they put them at). If they lump all there creatures together a quickmeteor shower from your pit lords will show them the error of there ways :). Anyhow, this patch should have been out months ago, but at least it is out, and there is more positive then negative. Still needs work though.
Warning, may cause confusion, blindness, raising of eybrows, and insanity. Image

Yeah, now all we need to do is break some legs and they'll really start giving us what we want.

Paper doll

Unread postby King_Roland » 11 Nov 2006, 16:03

I will add my comments on the paper doll. I think the paper doll with patch 1.4 is very poor.

Its shape is way too square and doesn't fit the hero's body. The 'inventory' mod is much better - I'll be re-activating that mod.

After reading all comments, pro and con, maybe I'll just wait for the expansion pack...

Has anyone already "discerned" what does "... and some more" mean this time?

Patch 1.4 is Out

Unread postby Angelspit » 11 Nov 2006, 19:13

That patch took me a while to download, even from the Game Updates. But I'm glad we have a cumulative patch now.
I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

Ack! the game ran fine on my Dell XPS before I patched. Now it shuts down to windows every few minutes.

And with all the random effects that this patch is causing, I won't be dl it until I hear that it's finally stable.

So,if you had problems with the game, instal the patch and it helps, but if it was fine, then dont because it will screw it up? :|

wrt to the paper doll issue:

do take a close look at the Nival vs. fan made one.

count the slots available.

yes, one does LOOK better than the other (how hard could it have been to make it look right Nival?), but Nival added extra slots for miscellaneous artifacts.

which also suggests that some artifact types have changed.

will a clover leaf work in the shield slot now?

doesn't look like it.

Yup, they added one misc slot. That really justifies taking out all the nice drawings of what each slot was.

It's like they're doing it on purpose: "So you want a paperdoll, here it is, how do you like them paperdolls!"

That's one reason why the fan-made one looks (and functions) better. It would be nice if the author would be so good as to update it!

Again, details.Does it give them for free?Does it give them imidiatelly?
Assuming it works exactly the same as before then, yes. You immediately get the spell in your spellbook and the ability to cast it at no cost, except now they are mass spells so it would seem they just wanted to make the perks a little more useful.
