Patch 1.4 is Out

Unread postby Orthanc » 10 Nov 2006, 06:11

Is it just me or is the game running a little faster with the patch. I think that's great. It feels more like the pace of a H3 game.

Happy with the paper doll...let's not be too critical here.

The game does seem to run faster and smoother for me. Yes the paperdoll was a step back, but it actually seemed to balance things a bit (not much mind you but a bit). Camera doesn't lock up every time you touch the mouse (I have a slower system so it did this to me), and it was more enjoyable all arround for me.

Who's critical?! I'm just stating fact. It's sucky. They might just as well have added the misc slots and be done with it. It's better then before, but as a wise man once said: "the best piece of shit in a pile of shit is still shit!"

Patch 1.4 is Out

They say "patch 1.3" in the official cite, but I want 1.4! Is it just a typing error, or what?

Patch 1.4 is Out

Unread postby Cleanpea » 10 Nov 2006, 13:27

Someone said it makes the game experience smoother, and someone said it is too little detail. Someone said it messed up some editor objects. All over good. But I am now joining those glorious people that think it should have been like this from the start. I think Nival could have done more if Ubisoft didn't use rush and force with this game- Nival is good! But too small to say against Ubisoft when they want more time

Patch 1.4 is Out

Now that they screwed the paper doll up, they will have to fix it in ANOTHER patch. How come this is so difficult for them? Someone tell Nival to stop trying to do something different just for the sake of being different.

Actually DL if you are lazy you get it right the first time so you don't have to do it again. No I think they are just a little confused by what people actually are asking for. Somebody in the office probably thought of those little cutout dolls made of paper :). Anyhow, things are looking up, and though there are a few problems, overall it has been positive. Now if only they would get rid of the negative without trashing the positive (which they seem to do) it would be great.

Ok, people seem to be negative about this, and it seems to stim from the paperdoll and Hot Seat. True, those things were bad, really really bad. Yet, they did take a step in the right direction, so lets at least give them credit for trying. Sure it should have been done earlier, and it should be better, but at least they have finally started on the correct path. This patch helped the memory leak (I think on really large maps there still exsists a problem, but it is better), the AI seems a bit smarter. I don't know if it still cheats however (havn't gotten arround to redoing the 'cheat' aspect yet). Sylvan was helped a little, so was inferno, and others didn't fair too bad. Inferno may even be able to go toe to toe with necros in large maps (lots of looms and the 5% extra for gating AND looms can = huge gated armies. And unlike necro's who get Skelly Archers you get some heavy hitters also. Plus you can gate your creatures right next to their ranged units to stop them being ranged (regardless where they put them at). If they lump all there creatures together a quickmeteor shower from your pit lords will show them the error of there ways :). Anyhow, this patch should have been out months ago, but at least it is out, and there is more positive then negative. Still needs work though.
