I have played through all of Campaign's 1-4. Through playing and reading web sites I have a really good idea of what spell power and knowledge do. But what do the Hero stats of Attack and Defense do?
I know that creatures have Attack and Defense stats. And through the Celestial Heavens Unofficial guide, I see how those creature stats affect combat damage.
Now, I could "guess" that the Hero stat simply was used in the damage calculation for when a hero attacked a creature stack directly. But is this the ONLY place the Hero 'attack' stat is used? And if so, then what the heck is the Hero defense stat for, when no creatures or heroes can attack your hero directly?

ps. If anyone happens to know the percentage associated with different 'luck' and 'morale' levels causing those effects to trigger, I'd appreciate that information as well.

You can download the unofficial guide hosted on this site, and there is a good section at the end telling you exactly how it works.

Edited: I just checked the guide and I see nothing in the end! Is my memory messed up, or an updated version of the guide removed it?

That's stupid. A mage horo shouldn't de as much dmg as a might one. They could have at least have atk modify the dmg just like in a creature.DaemianLucifer wrote:Its level based.

Right, stupid 1 hero per faction....
But heroes that specialize in might should be able to use their atk, while magic heroes their SP. Makes more sense that way. Also makes up for might heroes weaker spells.

They get the advantage of their units not sucking.
For the OP, basically, when a unit attacks, attack and defense are taken into consideration as a modifier for the base damage of the attacking creature. The gap between the attack and defense of the respectively attacking and defending creatures will either raise or lower the base damage of the creatures doing the hitting, depending on whether the gap is positive or negative.
However, don't ask me the exact forumulas, I don't know if anyone has even done that.

Which manual? They used to exist in the Celestial Heavens Unofficial guide. However, I accidentally deleted my 1.0 version and downloaded the 1.1 version and noticed all the appendices are gone, including the damage formula one.stijn wrote:the exact formulas are in the manual
Also I still haven't seen a formula for the percentage chance of Luck/Morale.
