No native builds for these games exist. However first five games and Swords of Xeen can be played with dos box (that emulates DOS environment). It might have been caused by DEP (I had similar problem recently). Try to disable it completely (Step-by-step instruction is here)

You can download some new portraits from http://modhomm3.free.fr/. Click on "Portraits" under "Heroes4" category in the list to the left. Although most of them don't look consistent with original HoMM IV portraits
