While there is no official statement on how long this delay will be, a translation of that statement, originally found on the French Ubisoft Might and Magic site was posted in the comments for this mornings post, and the (non-automatic!) translation follows:
"It has been decided to delay the launch of the planned Heroes of Might and Magic V beta test. An official statement with the final launch date will be posted later on. We realized that the beta wouldn't provide a satisfying preview of the game and chose to delay the event until we have a better quality product. The whole development team is currently working on completing as soon as possible the final details of the open beta. We apologize for the expectations you had for today's event and hope you will understand that the satisfaction of the fans is the main reason behind the delay."
Ed: A post on the official forums reveals that the new date should be announced in a couple of hours. The open beta "is likely to start in a matter of days, not weeks".
