It comes from Fried, a small East-German village, where Heinz "Chicken" Kentucky had a small restaurant in the 19'th century.

Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

Back before TV, cartoons were seen as shorts before movies. Disney was the main provider and when they moved into full length pictures they wanted to exploit the ability of the medium for fantasy -- mainly fairy tales -- which was extremely expensive to do in live action.ThunderTitan wrote:People more like it.

Of course cartoons are easy for children to view because of the clear delineation. And they showed well on TV, which at first was starved for content. (When I was a kid, the TV would go off the air in the early afternoon!) Cartoons made for inexpensive daytime programming. Later, Hannah Barbera began making cartoons just for TV -- Huckleberry Hound was their first -- and these ran in the afterschool timeslot.
