perhaps not, but this is a games thread .... now if only GC could work on the Hangman thread, this conversation wouldn't be needed

:D

One word: Caladont

Seriously though...why don't we revive Caladont? I'd be happy to do so myself, but I never fully understood the rules to begin with.

Here's the rules as Panda reposted them near the end of the thread:
Panda wrote:I'll summarize the rules again for those who want to start. Any modifications I find somewhere, I'll edit right after that:

1) You need to create a word that starts with at least two last letters of the previous word (example hat -> attractive).

2) The order of the letters should not be changed (morning -> ingenious is ok, but ignite isn't).

3) You must add at least one letter (so hat -> at is a nono), never take out letters.

4) You can use more than just two last letters, and it gives you additional points (example:cape -> apes gives you 3 points, while pea gives you just 2).

5) Proper nouns (nouns that label a specific thing or person like Earth, Microsoft, Belgium, Ronaldinho (crying), etc.), and non-english words are not allowed and so are abbreviations, although those non-English words used in spoken and written English may be used, e.g. "vis-a-vis".

6)A single word cannot be repeated twice in the same round (a word is considered repeated even if you post a plural of it, but singular was posted earlier).

7) A word cannot be strongly tied with the previous word (its meaning has to completely differ from all of the previous words menings) if its used whole (so adding a suffix ly, ing, ed or any of those, isn't allowed, turning a verb into a noun, or similar is also not allowed).

8) For each letter of the previous word you use, you get one point. If you use the whole previous word in the new word, you get five extra points(example:mist -> mistaken gives you 9 points, not 4).

9)The round ends when there are no words that can be posted. The one that ends the round gets - 5 points (so that users are encouraged to prolong the game).

10) The one with the most points at the end of the round starts the new round and win a virtual candy. In the case of a tie, the one with the lowest number of words wins. If it ties again, the following subjects will be used: older member , nose size, daily water consumption, smile use .

11) You cannot post two words without at least 5 other members' posts between them.

12) If you mispel the word, you are awarded - 1 points. If you do that again, -2. If you keep doing that, we'll lend you a dictionary entitled Bogus.

13) If someone breaks a rule, he is penalized with one point. When five penalties are issued, the round ends, and everyone dies (why is this Chuck Norris's quote doing here...?).
So, if no one minds...let's get Caladont 2.0 on the road! I want to host it! :oex:

Caladont 1.0 was closed on January 21st after deteriorating into frivolous spam, and to make room for more innovative games.
This thread seems to have degenerated from a game with a scoreboard into just "post somewhat as per the rules". Thus, it's closed until further notice.
I don't know if there's a huge demand. The old game seemed to always boil down to the same words round after round.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

True. But I enjoyed it very much. :)

We'll have to see though...no use opening the thread and then only 1 or 2 people showing up.

But at least it was frivolous. ;)

Uhhh, why would you be waiting for GC? It's Omega_Destroyer that has to put up the word.

Maybe, to avoid that deterioration, if could be applied another rule, modified something to make it more interesting. I was wondering about synonims, or words that have meaning related to each other... ;|

I think there must be a game that everyone can play, even when there's no time to think much about it, to search for anything, and that anyone can keep the next round going up. You see, like the Part of a Whole, you must have a place to host an image, which is something that not everyone has. So, it can decrease the number of hosting players. ;| The RPG, which is really nice, you must read everything to catch up (I'm dreading at doing that :( ). Riddles, not everyone like them and it's limited by Heroes and MM games - not everyone played those. Hang man we must await the host to post the answer to keep moving.

So, I think there must be a game so there's not many dependancies to keep it going, but that it won't become a spamming ground which brings that awful feeling of emptiness. I'll think a bit about it - try to help bringing a new game for appraising, perhaps adjusting Caladont to something new...Caladoit.

@Panda: Good idea. :)

A brain teaser game would be nice...Mytical started a thread about them a while back...but it seems like it got erased from the face of the forum. :)

Or perhaps we should have a non-M&M riddle game. I'd like to do some riddles, but they aren't M&M in origin.

Whatever happened to the fan fic contests?

I'm stumped for ideas...maybe I can think some other ones later. :)

I know, I know. :) What I've meant is that not all people will stop what they are doing to join another site for hosting images. I've did that twice, but forgot my password and such in a week due lack of use. :D

Of course, there is! :-D Not only laziness, but busy as well. How come that you are really busy - it's likely that you'll ask someone else to post that for you, isn't it? :)
