We could also send a dead rat with the tape...

And maybe we should start using Ds3.

True, but the same could be said for Disciples. This is why there should be a distinct difference between the two short forms and Ds3 works wonderfully for Disciples 3.

I don't think it makes a huge difference what abbreviation you give it. I highly doubt Diablo 3 will come out anywhere near the release time of Discplies 3, so I don't think people will get the two confused.

Any worthy game must have an abreviation.

And DIII? That's what you tell horses over here when you want them to go faster...

I do.

Ill keep it short:

- .dat was created in 2004 by Dmytry Demyanovskiy and Andrey Ivanchenko (Anry). Before that Dmytry worked as a lead programmer on "Corsairs" and "Pirates of the Caribbean Sea" in "Akella" company. Andrey was lead artist on PotCS.

- they know little about former D3 development by Mist Land-South. From what they know - it didnt even started.

- they do not take HoMM5 as a business rival. Because: 1) Its already long time out 2) currently there are not many TBS on the market 3) D3 is different, nevertheless its of the same genre

- they are trying to be in the know of all fan's wishes, but have own view on what game should become. Yet constructive suggestion still can effect game mechanics.

- Dmytry hopes that they were able to keep atmosphre of the original, nevertheless the overall graphic style is different.

- the Virtual Dream engine is developed by .dat, and was ready to use before D3 project started

- game would require DirectX9 supported video card

- There will be terraforming (like in D2)

- in-game animations are made using motion-capture.

- user interface is fully remade.

- plot will be consecutive. (unlike D2)

- Number of units is nearly the same as in D2.

- More likely one branch of buildings will disable others (like in D2)

- Thief will be one of the leader types

- There will be no Rod-planters. Instead, rods will be placed using special artifact. (which can be used by any leader)

- RPG system is more deeper in D3

- Max leadership value is 8.

- Units can not move on global map without leaders

- Units can move during battles.

- Rods can defend themselves

- Cities will get some more functions.

- map sizes will vary from tiny to huge.

- neutrals may move on the global map. (in same way as in D2 i.e. must be scripted)

- there will be MP, but its details was not discussed yet.

- game is in develompent for 1,5 years by now, and will be finished somewhere next spring

/My Note: by other sources - next fall/

Thanks for the info. But I thought they said it would be released this year.
I'm happy for the delay though :)
