Or, you know, they just reused the sprite from MM7 (the guy in the town hall of Harmondale).
That doesn't mean he didn't shave his beard.

Same here. Many people elevate Sandro to the status of some "god of all Might and Magic", they're overestimating him. He;s a significant and charismatic character, but not the most important symbol of MM. Same with Enrothian Crag Hack.

@Xel

To the majority of HoMM fans they're probably the most known...

Although i for one would have never realised that was supposed to be Sandro...

@ΤΤ:

Since he is just a skeleton with a hood, you are forgiven. It could have been any lich with a hood. Or it could be Ethric without his crown, just his outfit when he went shopping.

@XELL II:

Still, shaved or not, it's a shame Roland got to share his icon with a random guy from MM7. IF they wanted to reuse something, they could have reused his own from MM7. And by the way, it's not just the beard. He looks completely different between incarnations. His portrait from H2 looks nothing like all his other portraits. The only thing matching is his hair colour.

MM VII/AB portait looks similar enough to HoMM II one to me. After all, in the former he's around 15 years older than in the latter.

That means that you shouldn't look into it so much. If it was a black square, you wouldn't say that he turned into a shadow, now would you? :devil:

Same here. Did he really have a spidery staff? That looks just too much H5 to me.

Crag Hack (or rather Crag the Hack) is special as he's the first MM character ever made, and Jon Van Caneghem's original avatar in the series. He was a character JVC used to use in D&D before MM was created.

It's abundantly clear why Sandro is considered such an important character. He's a skeleton in a robe.

Terran Crag Hack is more deserving of a place in this artwork.

Crag the Hack wasn't actually part of the storyline, but indeed was the precursor of the Crag Hacks. He is not their namesake per se, however.

They should have Terrax or Ethric. Terrax was the creator of the Elemental Schools and Dark Magic, and Ethric was the first Lich. Two famous game-changers!

They should've had General Corlagon in this image. General Corlagon is pivotal to the plot of Heroes II. Why isn't General Corlagon in this image, Marzhin?? :P

Becuase I killed that lich myself. :P

BTW - you may add many, many more missed heroes/characters but I think we all miss one very good known hero: Gelu (I would also add Yog, Tarnum and maybe Kilgor and Mutare).

Not all heroes fit inside a picture. I like the artwork myself. You will never get to create artwork which contains everyone's favourites. Unless of course you produce a mosaic of just icons.

One person I would have liked to make it into the picture, is Morglin Ironfist. Not only is he a pre-Enroth character and Enrothian too, but most importantly he is the key character in Heroes 1 and a legacy to MM6 and beyond and H2 and beyond. Being the father of Roland and Archibald, everything that transpired in these games are related to him. And of course, he is the discoverer of Enroth and the introduction of Heroes of MM to the franchise.

But you can't have it all.

Not me, i only said he should look better... H3's original portrait for him was the best.

But then nobody could identify him. It's already difficult as it is.
