You should have a map folder created when you instaled the patch. If you dont have it,create one.

correction:

name it "maps".

btw, the folder is automatically created when the map editor is first run, so I think many (including myself) thought that it was made by the patch.

so if you don't want to manually create the folder, just run the editor once and then quit.

User Maps, Mods, the game itself

Unread postby shinybeast » 30 Oct 2006, 00:38

Hail and salutations to all,

I have yet to be able to install user maps or mods, despite taking advantage of all the kindly advice listed here. Perhaps it's my ignorance. If you create a "maps" file, then you unzip any given map file into it (which is the way H3 worked)?

On another note, has anyone told Fabrice and his team what beautiful, beautiful game they hae created? I really can't understand all the nit-picking. Yes, there are problems, but the overall game (to my mind) is stunning (apologies for the cliche).

Any advice on installing games and mods would be humbly and utterly appreciated.

In your heroes V directory create a new folder called "maps". Place the .h5m map file in that folder and it will work. It's a bit silly this isn't automatically created...

After opening the Map Editor make sure you fully start it by entering a map name and click ok. This will generate the Maps directory.

Excellent post Thanks for the help!
