the problem of behemoth

Unread postby vhilhu » 02 Oct 2006, 19:36

behemoth - in h3-h4 it was ape, in russian and some other languages it means hippopotamus. what should it be like?

the question is important, as barbarian/orc town will likely be the next one made. and its lvl 7 will probably be behemoth, its already a tradition, and a good one.

so, vote!

I think it should stand on two legs like an ape, but I think it should look like a hideous, mutated, beast-like monster. (The H3 one isn't hideous enough and reminds me of my old dog. :disagree:) It should be gargantuan and make you tremble like when you hear the phrase "griffins eternal." :S

ehh, seems im the only one voted the bull this far. h3 swamp gorgon wont come into the swamp in h5, maybe even swamp town wont come, but i already imagine a huge bull with dark scaly skin and big horns would be great. ape is not too bad also, but i like the bull more.

The Behemoth should remain ape-like.

GOW

Voted H3, but maybe a bit more gorilla-like... But keep the face.

I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

What if the snow ape will look like an ancient behemoth from homm3. Than you could say that the behemoth will be a neutral. Hmmmm....not sure if it's a bad or a good idea.

As much as I love Age of Mythology (and that is dinosaur-like not aardvark-like by the way), I'd have to say that Ape-like behemoths have always been the staple in HoMM and in H3 they were done particularly well: strong, ferocious, deformed, and mostrous. That is precisely the image I would want the new ones to convey. (Of course it would be a disaster if the monkeys from H4 were brought back)
Happy Millenium!
