Not able to move data.

The role-playing games (I-X) that started it all and the various spin-offs (including Dark Messiah).

Not able to move data.

Unread postby Mindpatch » 15 Sep 2006, 16:04

Hello, I am Mindpatch. I used to play For blood and Honor a lot and it used to be my favorite game as well. I recently decided to start playing the game again. It's just that I hav a little problem. I'm trying to install the game but I don't get far. I hope some of you might be able to help me on this one.
Here's what I get at 3%:

An error occurred during the move data process: -106

Component: Program Files
File Group: Program Files
File: d3dbitmap.hwl

I use a computer with Windows XP from 2002 with everything updated and the right service packs as well. The only PC failure I get before the error is my Direct X not being 6. (it's higher) but I've been told that's normal. I tried installing it without extra graphics as well but I get the same message at 4%. I also tried installing it in windows 95, windows 98/ME and windows 2000. I also tried installing without all the hardware and sound etc. My CD is clean, original and absolutely scratch free. It has worked before.

I think I gave you all the information that is in some way related to the falure, can anybody please help me?

Kind Regards, Mindpatch.

Yeah, the MaM on Windows XP pages explaines a lot, but that's only for after you have installed the game properly.. Schtupid data moving process. My friend is going to burn all his installed data on a cd so I can play it, I think this should be legal, because I do own an original copy.

EDIT: Haha, turns out MM7today is the friend I was talking about. :D

Mindpatch - I have something familiar with MM6 i MM7 - I can't copy/install files from MM6 (and MM7) disc to HDD - but they are additional files (extra graphics) and aren't important in game instalation.
Probably your cd-rom is too sensitive to this cd or it is time to clean your cd-rom.
Maybe another cd-rom can help or just try copy install disc to HDD and install game from there (or create backup copy of install cd).

I have the disc with the data on it and it works fully at normal speed with all the sound untill I reach to the point of actually starting the game, it then shows a message about an error and sending the report y/n. I tried this at all compabilities etc. Still nothing. Can anybody help me?

from dxdiag).
