To moderators:

Recently I've talked to a guy who works in Nival. And he said that I can put my map in FUN sites of Heroes. I can quote it but the message is in russian. If it's not enough, let's compromise: I will not use your resources to put my map. I'm just gonna give a URL, deal?

P.S. If you still think that I'm doing a BAD job by giving something to play with for all the gamers before 1.3. release... WELL, what can I say: just delete my post. Sorry once more.

P.S.2. Heroes 5 intentionally uses OPEN Source so that fans can enjoy this game in WHATEVER way they want :)

The map editor will be included in the expansion pack - but will also be in the patch for the original game. And it seems only fair, since you can't expect everyone who owns the original to also purchase the expansion.

Paulus 1 is correct the map editor will be available for download in patch 1.3. This is exciting. Right when Patch 1.3 comes out is the wrong time to lose interest. I for one will be playing fan made maps galore.

The expansion is supposed to include a "enhanced" map editor which I think means it will have a random map generator. Of this I'm a bit more dubious.

It's not that we don't like people making maps, it's that with the beta editor, one can do some potentially dangerous stuff that we wouldn't want to happen. That's why we're not allowing links right now, and won't be allowing them in the future unless they've been tested by someone besides the mapmaker.

That's not quite what Fabrice said.

He said that the map editor will be released in patch 1.3. The expansion pack will carry the RMG and an enhanced map editor - perhaps a campaign editor?
The enhanced map editor - but not the RMG - will be released for the original game in a future patch.

Enchanced map editor means that we will get a user-friendly editor in which we won't need to do really everything on the map as scripting AI for every map we make.
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

Yes, it's good that there is a seperated patch so they don't force you to buy the expansion if you want the map editor, but if i remember correctly there was no map editor included in the contents list for hommV expension but only a random map generator ?

The map editor is included in the contents list.

The addon will carry an improved version of the map editor, which will also be delivered for free online. It will also include all patches released at the time.

Interesting, they call it "improwed version" while the one they used(which is stronger)seems to be the regular version.I say this because from that statement it seems that the "improwed version" is in the patch as well as in the addon.

The map editor is awesome, the next version of the map editor I believe that they are going to include a menu based scripting system. It will look like the scripting editor that is in the HOMM IV map editor. I won't know for sure until the enhanced map editor has been released with the first expansion.

Thanks

lol. not for about 8 years now!

I switched to my current incarnation after running into too many toejams starting around 1996-97.

I always found that rather surprsing; i used toejam for about 8 years before that with nary a conflict, then all of a sudden, it started sprouting up everywhere.
