What Kind of Gamer are You?

According to <a href="/http://www.gamespot.com/news/6156757.html">this article</a> over at GameSpot, the gaming industry is changing as far as customer base is concerned. The terms "hardcore" and "casual" gamers are on their way out as the only two pigeonholes you can be put in, as Parks Associates analyst Michael Cai uses data collected from some 2.000 US online gamers to divide you all into six distinct groups:

- Power gamers

- Social gamers

- Leisure gamers

- Dormant gamers

- Incidental gamers

- Occasional gamers

I guess that makes me part leisure gamer and part social gamer. This is kind of useful, beause I am not a hardcorde gamer or a casual gamer, I am somewhere in between.

So that's for online games only? I used to think 80% of their revenue comes from 20% of the gamers, who owns 80% of the ID in use. Call it "Power" if you wish.

I consider myself a Social gamer, although I do have my Power gaming sprees when theres an awsome game and can't get enough of it in the beggining.

lol! Already forgot what half the gamertypes meant :p

I'd guess I'm a powergamer. I always play on hardest difficulty that I can win at. (8 simulated players in singleplayer in Diablo II: LoD) Beat that if you can!

Lady Ferquad: Piano?? Why on earth do you play the piano?? That was something women were forced to do a hundred years ago :p

Imho that`s not a powergamer. As i understand powergamer is more about being teh uber 1337 one!11!!

*These people really enjoy gaming, but can't play often
due to other time commitments. When they do find time to play, they
prefer complex, challenging titles and playing with friends or family.

Should be something about competitive gaming there imo

. I play mostly for competition nowadays.

Dormant gamer: -2 spell power / +15% experience

Power gamer: +3 attack / +25% damage from diseases

Double class dormant/power: special skill: meditation / +3 knowledge
