Sorry E,but tzar->tzarina is not allowed, and neither would be king->queen if it could be connected somehow.
I can sort of understand why tzar-tzarina don't go, but not king - queen? Sure they can't be connected, but they and similar pairs might very show up in the same round. A king and a queen are two different things, and two different words.

They are not different things because they are just male and female kinds of a same title.

Is banning compounds such a good idea? I mean, then the round will definitely end every time somebody posts endings and so on...

edit: You may ban compounds such as foot-binding or dwarf-tossing, because even though they are known phenomena, they are not acutal words* (i.e. in the dictionary). However, some compunds are actual words that can only be written as a compounds, kangaroo's-foot for instance.

*)This can also mean that your last word was not valid, even in this round.

In that case, I claim right of usage because they're two different chess pieces. So there. And I hope you only mean compunds as in words that use a hyphen...

Agreed. Though Kangaroo's-foot (which is an awfully unenglish way of writing) can be written "Kangaroo paw" instead.

bindingly

edit: king and queen are two different words, not that I see how it matters here - you can't form one off the other anyway.

No, they are not. Insects for example often have queens, but no male equal, a king. In monarchies hereditary rules and status may differ between kings and queens (Norway for example have both a king and a queen, but they are not equal in status). So there are many differences to the meaning of the words beyond mere gender. And also what GC said.
