Hi there,
am I the only one out there to suffer from stability issues?
I have the "normal" game edition and did apply patch 1.2 but still the game crashes.
I cannot reproduce a crash or determine a pattern when it happens. I just crashes from time to time (i.e. after 5 minutes oder after half an hour). In average it takes me 3-5 restarts in an hour of gameplay.
In addition sometimes after few crashes the game will not resume at all. The CD is being checked but nothing happens anymore... Sad but true! And yes: I am - of course as a huge fan - the owner of an original...
Anyone out there with similar issues?

Stability Problems
Maybe, I'm just one of the lucky ones, but I have not had a crash since the b-test. Since not everyone has this problem, it would stand to reason that it has something to do with hardware or operating environment. Since it is not possible to test with every configuration of hardware and software, it is inevitable that something will slip through.boogert wrote:lol...uh yeah dude, its MANY people with these "problems" the game is a f%¤#ing lemon. it dont work properly and never will
My advice is to communicate with others who have the problem, look for commonalities and bring those to the attention of the vendor. I'm sure they are just as motivated as you are to get it fixed.
Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

O.K. it seems at least "one" other has those problems to deal with - thanks <boogert>.
Thanks <Caradoc> for the advice. I will start with giving my specs:
OS: WinXP Pro SP2, w/ "most" security fixes
CPU: Athlon 64 "3200+"
GPU: Gigabyte board w/ NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT, passive via heatpipe
RAM: 1 GB brand A, w/ correct timing parameters
Overall I operate a polished system and do not experience other crashes or malware influences.
Hope this contributes to the discussion.
People w/ crashes out there - this is the place so please do post!!!
Thanks a lot
Loynis.

Heroes V crashes my system occasionally. In 1.0 it would crash on the largest maps. Since 1.2 I have only had two crashes, so it isn't that bad for me.
So for me the prevalent issue throughout has been related to map size...bigger map = more crashing. Now I am able to finish rise to power, warlords, and war of the worlds without crashing so 1.2 worked for me.
I'm not hooked up to the internet. I was wondering if internet connection might confuse the heroes v game.

Re: Stability Problems
I haven't had the crashing problem, so can't help there.....I have had problems with it starting again from shortcut or from programs, I finally dumped shortcut and now restart game by ejecting disk and closing it again (seems to work all the time then), kept getting more than one application of it running at a time, that made it real unstable then.Prayer-Loynis wrote:Hi there,

Edit: Also have you read thru the "tech help forum" over on the UBI boards? Might be some solutions over there that might help you, many many people having problems with it (though some didn't read the specs and are way under them).

It only crashes for me if my PC have been on for a while (1-2 hours), then play H5 even longer (2-4), then if I try to start a very big map with 7 A.I and myself, the game freezes under the loading screen. Since I just dont have a monster of a computer, no wonder that happens
Im not a master of advices, but try to tune the settings in H5 (removing eye candies etc), maybe it wil run more stable then?

Its me again ;-)
After checking the links provided (thanks) and updating my GPU drivers to the latest (nice idea? I doubt it...) I have at least - lets call it "a progress".
The game does now freeze the PC in its entity when rotating the map. Very interestring "feature". I have to make more game-hours for judging on stability in general. And no - reducing eyecandy and stuff won't make it any better.
Anyways - I do not consider myself as a beta tester. The game has undergone this phase of development. I am too fed up at the moment and leave it on the shelf until 1.3.
Please Ubi / Nival keep pushing things!!! Would be a shame having to drop the game and giving it away on ebay...

Stability Issues
Yes, the game crashes heaps for me but I AM using a 4 year old computer (which is "past it's used by date" in the computer world) & my video card is only a 64MB AGP GeForce 3 Ti 200.

What does no eyecandies do? With it checked and unchecked all the windmills and mines still play their animation and I see birds flying. Can't figure that one out.Orfinn wrote: Im not a master of advices, but try to tune the settings in H5 (removing eye candies etc), maybe it wil run more stable then?
