Wait Button?

Unread postby Bonzer » 15 Jul 2006, 21:35

Am I missing something, or is there no button on the combat screen for "Wait"?

I often prefer "wait" to "defend" so as not to lose too much initiative, but always have to press the "W" key.

Is the "W" key the only way?

If so, umm (whispers.....) anyone want to see it in patch 1.3?

There's a mod for that button, made by theGryphon; it's the fifth one in this list.

Well Thanks for a quick reply Lucky Dragon. Easy to see why you are described as a hero! I'll give it a try. Hope it won't have any effect on upcoming patches though.

it's mostly a "visual" mod, like let's say the treants gfx, so it should be ok with any upcoming patches ;)

I removed this mod just before updating my installation with the patch 1.2. I thought that "wait button" would be added "officialy". But it seems that Nival hasn't implemented it for now.
Does this mod is still compatible ?

Many mods arent compatible anymore. For instance my favorite mod, the creature #'s mod for neutrals no longer works for me even if I put it in the folder :(

It works just fine with 1.02. When you get it, be sure to download the mod manager too. Makes life a bit easier.

Actually, mods are "compatible" with the patch, the ting that makes them incompatible is that the patches (which use the same mechanism as mods, by the way) have more recent file modification dates, referring to files within the archive. I think I'll write a tool to remedy this problem.

Do you refer to the mod, who increases the stack sizes of neutrals?
I've got that one too and it really doesn't seem to function after 1.2 anymore!
Any idea how this could be solved?

Ehm, tried out the mod manager but no effect (or was your response not aimed towards the issue from LordErtz?) !

My mod was just the one that shows the # of neutrals instead of "few" "several" "horde"

It gives a range like 1-4 4-10 or whatever. It doesnt work anymore :(

I miss the camp-thingy when in adventure map
just press the button and the hero goes to sleep
usefull when you dont use that hero for days in the game
so you dont get up the message that there are unmoved units.
think it was the rest-button

I have the Heroes V Epic Collection. Both HOMM V and ToE have the wait button in the Combat Screen, while HoF does not. I have tried theGryphon's mod, but cannot seem to get it to work. In the installation I have, there is no separate HoF/data subdirectory, rather, there are three "data" subdirectories:

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V\data
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V\dataa1
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V\datals

I have tried putting the mod file (either newbuttons_waitsave_HoF.pak or hAzardousCombatMod_theGryphon_HoF.pak) in the \data subdirectory. When I do, I get the modified combat interface, except that instead of the hourglass I get a three blank black circles with newbuttons_waitsave_HoF.pak and a blank gray circle with hAzardousCombatMod_theGryphon_HoF.pak

My appologies in advance if this has already been covered in another thread and I am just too stupid to find it.

Thanks.
