I suppose that is because there are not that many female game designers to give some womanly input. Many guys just look up to the pictures of Carmen Elektra or Jessica Alba they have hanging above their computer and make a game model out of those.
Still though, like Marzhin mentioned, they are never the memorable characters, just instant satisfaction. April Ryan is my all time favorite female character as well.

Or maybe because most gamers are male?

I still have my Atari 800XL (my first 'game' computer) on display in my living room, I hope that is not a interior design 'faux pas'. Well it wasn't actually mine, I took it with me when I moved out.

@ThunderTitan; True, but you do alienate the female audience with that.

Well, the clothes I have no problems with (as long as it looks good and matches the environment in the game) or the shape of the body except the boobs. The boobs on i.e. Lara Croft are too big for her to be able to see anything when she runs. They must be bouncing too much :D

@ThunderTitan You're proably right that most gamers are male.

But most female gamers I know won't tell the other players on a server that they are female because most of the time you get this:

Really??? are you hot?

@VortexD very very true!

@Milla LOL

Smart ladies. But from my exp most people claiming to be female in MP aren't. Or maybe all of my friends are idiots? :devil:

Why even bother with gender during MP, how would you actually find out the persons true gender anyway? For all you know, I could be a woman, I'm not though... No really...

But its good to get to learn how women experience the games differently or similarly then us guys, it adds more dimension to the whole game experience outside of the game.

@thunderTitan yes I know some ppl like to play around like that and say they are this sexy chick just to see who on the server will fall for it.

@Milla My answer :) Married with children *evilgrinz* and then there's like silence on the server.

@all nice meeting all of you and chatting with you TTYL :)

I've seen guys in online games play female characters and actually live quite into the role at times, so that if I didn't know they were guys I might believe they really were female. Not that all females behave just one way, and all males just one, but there are general differences in the way people talk.

Thus the above mentioned "male until proven otherwise"-rule :)

There are definatly more female gamers out there than they like to admit. Don't be ashamed or scared to come out! We're all nice people. Really though what is there to be ashamed about in gaming. As long as you don't let it take control of your life. A friend of mine got into WoW and shut everyone out of his life and only played it. He wouldn't do anything but, still makes me sigh.

Heh, female gamemodels. The chick from Unreal 2 comes to mind ^^

and the boss with the lightninggun in Quake III from one of the earlier tiers. She was kinda hot.

Lara Croft have never been anything....ugly clothes, ugly character....

About female gamers identifiying themselves on MP servers are always funny but can sometimes be quite sad.

One guy from the Swedish PC Gamer magazine (get GameReactor for free instead) went online to a CounterStrike chat server and pretended to be a woman. As soon as he said that, things got nasty. From what I remember the conersation went like this:

PC Gamer: Am I the only female here?

CS nerd: Seems so....

CS yerk: Yeah, you smell fish

PC Gamer: So what map do you prefer to play?

CS pervert: Do you got big boobs???

PC Gamer: Thanks, I'll make it. Anybody here that want to partake in a normal conversation?

CS dork: You got a wet *****?

**PC Gamer loggs off**

No wonder women don't want to play CS....

Again proof that CS are for kids.

That's f'ed. It's understandable that women would then not reveal themselves. Luckily here on the forums we've got Moderators to ban/mod annoying or insulting posts.

Well here we can treat everybody with respect, male or female. And just talk about the subject at hand.

Hey Slayer aka Milla!!!!!!!I've been playing HOMM since version I!!!!!!!My hubby Shawn and I love the series and have all the versions. And there is no really stupid question........none of us, guys or girls are at the same places in the games at the same times so people can help each other out without giving too much away......I remember on the old forums how us women would gang up on the guys and vice versa.........just in a "fun" way nothing derogatory........there are probalby more girls/women here but many don't chat just lurk! We need to come out of the woodwork and be recognized!!!!! My name on the old New World/3DO forums was Baroness and I'm still here!!!!!!!!!
