British humor

I just got my hands on the episodes of coupling(a british sitcom similar to friends,but way better,imo)and laughed my afivefive off!Again!I can never get tired of this type of comedy.Only fools and horses is a legend,and Ill always laugh,no matter how many times I wacthed it,even though I know very single episode down to a pause between the sentences.And blackvegetable...errr,I mean blackadder is brilliant as well!The lock,stock and two smoking barrles is another fine example of this type of comedy.And of course,the topic about british humor wouldnt be complete without mentioning the famous monty python.

So,do you like this type of humor,or do you hate it?I simply adore it!

I was stationed in the UK for about 7 years during my air force career, and I developed a love of British humor. It is far superior to US humor, unfortunately much of it is missed in the US because of a lack of local UK knowledge. When I first arrived in England, I missed a lot of the jokes, but as I lived there awhile I noticed more and more of what was going on. Fawtly Towers, Hot Metal, Hazel, Potter, Last of the Summer Wine, Are you Being Served, Yes Minister/PM, Black Adder, Coupling and too many others to mention all are favorites of mine.

I enjoy British humor. Monty Pyhon and the Holy Grail is a favorite of mine.

British humor is superb. Currently I'm watching two series on my national television: Only Fools and Horses, The Black Adder.
Original british humor at its best.

Hey, anyone remember 'Allo 'allo? For me it was probably best british series. Exellent parody of World War 2.

Hehe, true! I can't remember any of US comedies that didn't have major actors sitting on couch, and talking "so called jokes"

I can.Its called south park.Although it cannot be actually called a sitcom.

But sitting on a couch and telling jokes can be very funny.Look at the coupling("We are the followers of the melty man,and you are now one of us!"

)

I think that what makes british humor so good is that its not just tossing arround random jokes,but connecting them,and building them up until the final laugh burst at the end,when all the pieces fall into place.

I loved that series as well and was fortunate enough to see one of their plays in London, much funnier than the TV (less inhibitions

). It was a shame the lead actors accident shortened the series.

As for Monty Python, well I agree.

And 'Allo 'Allo is/was a great serie. It (still / again) aired a year or so ago in Holland.

I like it, though I haven't seen much of it. As for the first option, of course there's other types of humour.

Now, if I could only find a way of seeing this Monty Python thing...

cant really comment on british humor, since i am a brit and live here..but yeah, i do love our comedies.

i think american humor seems to revolve around satire, some american things are funny.. whats that new thing on tv.. ah, i cant remember.. he takes the piss out of president bush a lot though.

I love British humor. I only get a few shows where I live and some are better than others, but all of it beats American comedy, which I can't stand to watch at all.
