New Heroes 5 maps message

Unread postby King Imp » 03 Jul 2006, 21:20

On the main M&M page there is a new message that mentions something about getting new maps via e-mail. Here is the exact message.
We have two new Heroes V maps available for distribution! Here's how get 'em:

If you don't have a Ubi.com account already, click here to register.
Check the opt-in box to receive communication from Ubisoft (we will distribute the maps to you via email).
Do this before July 21st.
Receive your new maps at the end of the month.
Enjoy!

This news kinda worries me. What happened to getting new maps in the patches? Are we now going to have to wait until the end of July just to get some new content to play or are these two maps on top of what we are supposed to get in the patch?

That's just pathetic.

Put them for download rather. It's not that they are some priced stuff, as most other maps from you are crappy anyway.

Three letters....WTH?? :| This is just lame, are they trying to reach a member score or something, trying to be pleasing for they who care to send them mail, begging for 2 extra maps?? Why cant they just put every map they have in a patch????

Shitty shisnos!!! :disagree:

Emphasis mine. If you sign up, it wouldn't surprise me if you'd get your inbox full of advertising from Ubi.

Am I missing something??? What I'm disappointed in isn't that I have to register ... what I'm disappointed in is that there are ONLY going to be 2 additional maps in the map pack.

The game has been out a while now and only 2 supplemental maps just doesn't seem like much to me :(

Something tells me that these 2 new maps are the ones from the collectors edition.

Actually, there were 3 extra maps in that edition and trust me when I say (because I have it), hope that isn't true because they aren't special.

....Just when you thought things wouldn't get any worse they pull this....
What about people that got banned from the official forum..? They're locked out from those maps (and online play as well?)

I bet it's some marketing idiot from Ubisoft that decided this.

This is in line with the software that installed with the game which sends data to UBI from time to time.

Well, obviously they are trying to find customers that they can send marketing material for expansions. They have to offer some kind of 'fulfillment' to get a response and two maps would be cheap for them but seen as valuable by customers. Typical marketing hoo-hah. It is possible these maps were not made by the regular development group and have come into the hands of the marketing group from somewhere else.

What worries me is what this means for the 'late June' patch. I would like to think this would have the promised 10 maps in addition to the 2 in the promotion (and the 3 in the deluxe product). (And I hope we see the editor before we hear jingle bells.)

I think ubi is giving us this 2 maps because the Heroes 5 Expansion pack or other patches will come with a huge delay of time and we must not get bored with the old maps . :devious:

Either way, just get us the map editor so people around here can start putting their talent to work. We'll see more maps out of the playerbase than we will from the developers by far.

Is it impossible that these maps will be available for download from Celestial Heavens?

Perhaps there is something I do not understand.

In any event, my impression from interviews at age of heroes was that the patch was supposed to have 3 new maps, and two new map sizes, small and very big.

We'll see how these other two maps play into it, but my understanding is also that we are supposed to get ten new maps in total, and a map editor.

Three? We're supposed to be satified with playing just 3 extra maps for the next month? How hard is it to finish the 10 maps that have been in the game all this time, but locked? Just give us all 10 in one shot for crying out loud! At least then we'd have something to tide us over until the map editor comes out. No, instead they'd rather all the fans become bored with the lack of material and stop playing completely until the next patch unveils the editor.
