The Elrath Mod Manager

Unread postby Kalah » 03 Jul 2006, 22:40

Elrath.com (a.k.a. Paradox) recently presented his Elrath Mod Manager in the official forums. In his own words, what it does is allow you to easily install/add a mod; enable or disable mods before running the game; and it contains a mod information window, showing you info on the selected mod. It sure looks great.

We have made it available for download from the CH mod page.

It will recongise any mods you have installed as long as they are paks (there are some mods that may be directy extracted into data folder).

Yeah, only mods in the form of a .pak file will be supported.

I'm pretty sure the sev. mod is a .pak file.

Well, this utility is simple enough, and I don't like the interface and the fact that it's closed-source. I think I'll write a replacement.

Open Source would be a fine idea! :)

Not keen to GPLing it, Elrath?

I might consider it when it's finished, heres some things im going to impliment for the next version:

conflict checker between mods
possibly online database of mods browsable via the program and able to be installed from the program - idea from Sikon

It was done in C++

Orfinn: do you mean instead of rar? or do you think because it's .exe it is an installer? because it doesnt need to be installed, just a single exe file.

that simple? yes I thought it was some kind of installer :embarresed: and since I dont have win rar I thought I wouldnt bother download it unless it was a zip file, but now I know that and one last thing...do I place the exe file in the H5 data folder? And how do I run it?

place the exe anywhere you like and just run it, then set your heroes5/data directory from the Change button at the top and its setup.
