Heroes Hits The NY Times

Unread postby Gaidal Cain » 30 Jun 2006, 08:26

The New York Times has a very positive review of Heroes V (oddly combined with one of a Lemmings game). While seemingly mostly intended for people who haven't played a Heroes game before, it's still interesting to be able to read about one's favorite game in a newspaper of such renown.

I think computer gaming is just as fattening as chips ;)

Chips and computer games make a killer combo. Literally.

Lemmings yesterday and Heroes today, the only 2 games that got me hooked. So in my odd mind there is a connection ;-)

A very positive article if you ask me. Lemmings is tons of fun, the old school gamers will know what I mean. ;)

Sure, its a positive article but its not written very well or with seriousness. It seems like some guy just ran out of ideas so he put together a a so-so thesis about three things he loves: lemmings, heroes, chips.

I got more the impression of a review written for (and perhaps by) people with very little familiarity with computer games. I didn't link to it because it was a review that would be very interesting in itself to a heroes player (there's plenty of those), but rather that it was a review in the NYT.

Anyway, it's gone now, unless you've subscribed to NYT online.

Reviews made in the New York Times have a much bigger impact than you think. My father gets it and I had him pull it for me.

it is a good review easily understood by the masses, because there is only one question to ask about a computer game: Is it addictive?

God god! Once the terrorists find out about Heroes V, we're all doomed.

It's pretty surprising to see the NY Times write about my favorite computer game franchise ever...I didn't think HoMM5 was this big of a game.. So maybe more people will get into it and increase HoMM5's popularity along with the entire set of games..
