Is experience gained dependent on difficulty settings?

Unread postby RunningManDK » 27 Jun 2006, 19:08

Hi all, just have a question about the experience system in Heroes V.

I don't know if this has already been debated back and forth in here, but I haven't seen any post containing this yet. ;)

Is the amount of experience gained in battle, in any way dependent on whether you play on easy, normal, hard or heroic difficulty settings. What I mean is, that there might be some kind of experience multiplier if you play on a harder difficulty setting, just as there was in Heroes IV.

Can anyone tell me if this is the case, or am I just kidding myself? :|

No, it isn't as in H IV. Each creature will net the same xp on each level, so on higher levels you get more because there are more creatures.

JJ is correct. Currently there is no difficulty level multiplier, and not sure they plan to add it. Not even sure the developers even recognize it as a serious problem. Well, this was maybe unjustified crititizm. :p

Anyway, the hard and heroic have much more difficult start compared to easy and normal, but at some point they may become easier than the "easy" levels. A neutral army of slow walkers can level you up quickly on heroic, while on easier difficulties you need to have many fights and not all of them against easy opponents to get the same XP.

Here's what the unofficial manual says about difficulty levels:

Easy
Neutral creature stacks are half as big as normal, but still net as much experience.

Hard
Neutral creature stacks are 12% larger than on normal, and net extra experience

Heroic
Neutral creature stacks are 40% larger than on normal, and net extra experience accordingly.

Way too small. Should be 50% bigger on Hard and 100% bigger on Heroic. And growth needs to be quicker. Much quicker....
