According to Fabrice, Ubi are planning to issue monthly updates, each coming with patching material. Other info:

- the second patch is planned to contain 10 new multiplayer maps

- the map editor will come with patch 3, due in medio July.

- the AI will be tweaked throughout the patching process.

- duel mode will be improved.

Fabrice said, "Combined with the map editor, or with a further patch will be added the capacity to link missions together as in the Heroes 5 campaigns."

Dare we hope this means a campaign capability for the map editor either released at the same time or with a patch to it. :beg:

Unless I'm not reading between the lines right, it seems like he's saying that Duel mode will be improved functionality-wise, but regular multiplayer will not. That's a shame since there are many things (like simultaneous turns) which regular multiplayer needs badly. Unfortunately, the person doing the interview didn't seem to actually know what the shortfalls of the game are, aside from the map editor and AI. I hate to tell him or her but there's a heck of a lot more wrong with it than that! And to say that the game is not flawed is unwarranted optimism. The game, while good, is quite flawed.

Map Editor mid-July, not bad, better than August. Still, all this stuff was released with the game when 3DO was making HOMM. I hope Ubi gets their crap together for H6, it seems like they were very unprepared for the magnitude of HOMM 5.

Note he doesn't say "10 maps with the second patch", but "We’ll introduce ten new multiplayer maps starting from this second patch." So depending on how you read it you might not get all 10 in one patch.

That may have something to do with the fact that the producers went bankrupt...

Jeff, it sure sounds like it. Also, Fabrice has said before that a RMG will come in an expansion.

Not expansion but addon, I've never seen Fabrice saying "expansion", not once. We fans have old-fashioned world outlook then.

He forgot the soon™ term :)

I just want a big patch which will reduce at least half of the bugs mentioned in the Buglist thread...

Well they're doing a Microsoft monthly patch routine, dare I say an UBI autoupdate program that automatically checks for the next patch. :hoo:

....Is there anybody on this board that DOESN'T think about the mapeditor 24/7?? Getting tired of hearing of it all the time....I know that the current maps will last at least 3 months more to me.

Interesting to hear about the montly updates and A.I fixes. I hope Fabrice reads our bugthread (certain he has) so he know what to fix.

Perhaps it is a sign on how important the editor is to the Heroes community. UBI could have headed off a lot of this with giving more information earlier, and then people would have been a lot less worried. :proud:
