Ghosts in multiplayer

Unread postby Revenged » 08 Jun 2006, 06:02

How do these exactly work? I know they have special skills, but I have yet to find out the exact system of these. For example, haunting the mine, possessing creatures...how does the skill affect the outcome?

From what I've seen, the Speed skill allows you to spend less energy for movement. The Haunt skill allows you to haunt a mine so it gives less ressources to it's owner. The Curse skill allows you to curse an enemy hero and reduce his stats. You can also uncurse one of your own heroes, in which case the Revenge ability comes into play and does some bad stuff to the enemy ghost (I have to test this). Possess allows you to possess a stack on neutral creatures, so the next time an enemy attacks them, there's a chance you will be able to control the neutral creatures (I killed a lvl14 hero by possessing a stack of treants and making them combat correctly :P). Finally, I think the Devour skill allows you to do better when fighting against an enemy ghost. I haven't played yet against another human player, so I didn't test this either.

There are also items called soul stones, or something like that, that when picked by a living hero give you an extra ghost to play with during ghost mode. I think these appear at random near possessed stacks of neutrals, or near haunted mines, so you can't just posses everything in the enemy's territory without him getting an advantage (extra ghosts).

There are still some aspects I haven't discovered yet, but it seems like a great way to spice up multiplayer (especially controlling neutral stacks :))

There was a heroes IV map which had scripts giving your opponent control over neutral stacks at the point when they attacked them. I never got to play it multiplayer, but it seems like a really cool idea and sort of implemented by these ghosts.

Uhh...yes, I know all of this stuff.

But what I am looking for is the EXACT way the things work with the skills and skill levels.

Well, I think it's pretty much impossible without looking into the data files. I think it's even more fun to discover it by yourself..after all ghost mode is only there to occupy you while the other players play their turns, so you might as well try out some stuff while on that mode.

Ghost mode is good to a point. It's great to finally have something to do while you twiddle your thumbs waiting for your turn. But It usually takes me only like a minute to use my ghost, so it's not too great.

But possesing all the neutral monsters is pretty neat; you get to see/fight battles when it's not your turn, and that's something to do. The paradox is, while your fighting a battle when it's not your turn, it makes all the other players wait EVEN longer for their turns :libra:

Having everyone be able to watch battles (an option/toggle) would GREATLY decrease the bordom and waiting time.

Then, the only way to be sure is to look at the data files yourself :D
